Which Oil to Top Up With???

Hi,
I have a 63 plate SD4 and need to top up the oil. But which one. Do I have a DPF, I assume so but I hve not found any M2C934-B oil anywhere locally.

Can anyone confirm that that is the correct oil any who sells it?
Thanks

engine oils to ACEA ACEA A5/B5 specification may be
used.

All Freelanders in the UK from 2011 model year onwards are fitted with a DPF therefore you need 5W30 that meets
WSS-M2C934-B. Castrol Magnatec Professional is what LR recommend but it is usually only available from Dealers.

Hmmm - handbook for my 2011 SD4 quotes 5W-30 meeting 913B not 934B ?
Where is the 934B specified ? Wonder if I have an " old " version of the handbook - doesn't seem to be
any mention in it of DPF anywhere ? Freelander 2

I did an oil change after purchasing my FL and ended up going to a local motor factor for the right oil. Comma produce on with the right spec - but it wasn't on the shop floor (where there were about 6 Comma oils, all 5W/30) but out the back. The guy said that finding the right spec oils cause him a right headache as there are so many that are 5W/30, etc but are then manufacturer/car/engine specific.

I would get your dealer to check engine number/Model Year to confirm what you need then !

England 2011 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Manual Baltic Blue

Just checked the Topix manuals for 2011 and 2012 model years.
2011 only quotes 913B which is for non-DPF vehicles while 2012 quotes for both 913B and 934B.

SD4 is definitely fitted with DPF and will therefore need oil which matches 934B specification.

Don't think 913 is C2 rated by the look of it?

Look at your VIN (the following borrowed from another thread)

Quote:
VIN Position 8 =

Upto 11MY:
B = Diesel non-DPF
C = Diesel with DPF

From 11MY
B = Diesel non-DPF (low power)
C = Diesel with cDPF (low power)
D = Diesel non-DPF (high power)
E = Diesel with DPF (high power)

So to pre-empt the "so how do I know what MY the car is?" question...

Model year identifier "MY" is position 10
8 = 2008
9 = 2009
A = 2010
B = 2011
C = 2012

You're welcome, you do right to change the oil and filter if you are not sure when last done. Hope you have many trouble free miles Thumbs Up
