It's because of the door seals - same for the FL2s when we went through. |

All the doors are double sealed. So even if the water manages to penetrate the first tight seal then there is a secondary back-up which pretty much prevents any water entering the vehicle. I think the only concern would be the air vents but you'd have to be pretty deep to worry about that. The engine, ECU and electronics is what is most at risk. A sealed snorkel is helps protect the engine but the electronics are still exposed. The same applies to the Freelander 2. You'll see these vehicles up to their window-lines in water without issue or problem. Have a look at this video - no water got into the vehicle here and this was well over the bonnet and up to windscreen level. https://www.disco3.co.uk/gallery/displayim...amp;pos=13 "CY from DISCO3" Discovery 3 TDV6 SE |

The standard sump guard has performed very well, certainly has a few battles scars but no damage to it. The fuel tank is the achillies heal without a doubt .... |

The FL2 might not survive that depth ... the air intake is behind the nearside headlamp ... gulp ! |
