United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Manual Tambora Flame

Depends on depth of water... density etc

One a side note I was thinking the the engine 'ping' should at the least have included GPS data just in case of such an event.

Who knows - may be it did.... I'm not convinced we are getting the full picture or will for some time for multiple reasons.

I know they are looking for wreckage and oil slicks

What if they flew out and landed like the pilot on the Hudson River only with no fuel

Landed in one piece, the hijackers then open the doors and the plane floods sinking in one piece

No wreckage no fuel leaking

Idea

Interesting theory npinks however, the left engine became detached on the Hudson river crash when it hit the water.

Putting this scenario in place for MH370, this would surely have meant quite a lot of damage to the left wing - there's your floating debris; escape of fluid from damaged control surfaces hydraulics into the water from the resulting damaged wing and probably engine oil as they rip themselves apart - there's your oil slick. If the fuel tanks were indeed on vapour, I agree that there would be no or minimal fuel slick visible. Jet fuel however breaks up and disperses fairly quickly compared to oils, especially if there's a bit of a swell or choppy water so any fuel in the water would have probably be gone by now.

Presumably the doors were not set to "manual" when they were opened so the chutes/life-rafts would have deployed also - more floating material.

OTOH, it could have played out exactly as you've theorized!!!

To be honest, there's got to be someone, somewhere who knows whats really happened. Its just unfortunate for all connected with this incident that they are not or cannot under duress say exactly what - yet!! MY2010 TD4 HSE Santorini Black, 19" Alloys, Almond Leather, Lux Pack, Rear Spoiler, Adaptive Xenons

Have to admit the chances of landing anything other than a flying plane on water the chances are there would be debris

Not as much as a full on collision and disintegration but some

I honestly do think there is a cover up taking place, be that diplomatic or a military issue of not disclosing either a mission or their intelligence assets

Hopefully time will tell

I guess when something else crops up, we will never hear the outcome, like most news stories, it's headline news till something else happens then you just get a bit of a snippit

Still it will be a good episode of aircraft investigations on discovery, in a few years time, when it comes to light

Successfully landing a plane (other than a sea-plane) at sea is as near to impossible as makes no difference.

The chap who got the aircraft dead stick onto the Hudson demonstrated some extraordinarily skilful flying, but he was assisted by the water being dead calm, there being no wind to speak of, and that everything went his way in terms of how the aircraft impacted the surface.

In other words, as he himself admitted, he was damn lucky. As in "can you please choose my lottery numbers" lucky.

Putting a 777 successfully into the ocean (at night) is just mind-bogglingly unlikely.

For all you armchair MH370 theorists - something to help indulge your huge appetites:

Go Find - and if you do you will have won the lottery big time as the world's media will be on your doorstep with cheque books in hand paying for that exclusive of how it was you who solved the mystery of the whereabouts of MH370.

I have Vasco da Gama's own maps - surely none better?

Seriously though, I see contradictions & changes in announcements that hint at obfuscation & subterfuge on the part of some countries / authorities???

Seems the one thing we can rely on is that final satellite-detected ping that puts the aircraft on an arc. Pity there wasn't another one or two satellites picking it up to triangulate the result... Sad ...

Be true to yourself. That way happiness lies...
