I'm sorry guys, I don't want to be a party pooper, but the loss of 239 souls is in no way a laughing matter.

At the moment there is no proof that anything has happened to those on board, apart from the fact the plane has disappeared which is unexplained.

The comment above is no more disrespectful, than someone saying aliens have abducted them, both totally unbelievable

Get real Nick. There is no way that aircraft could have landed safely and someone not know about it. It has been lost, most likely somewhere in the sea, possibly in a jungle (but unlikely). Sadly all are lost.

You are possibly correct, but as said nothing has been found, by over 40 ships and aircraft searching, too many what ifs and buts and I'm sure stranger things have been covered up by governments especially in the light of terror attacks, and if someone was on board that certain governments wished to speak too and as such a on going operation on Intel gained, then there well maybe 292 souls living on a airforce base till things are over or maybe not

Call me open minded, but I like facts not assumptions, so I am real thanks Thumbs Up

The US Navy deployed ships to the Indian Ocean now that new information suggests it flew for approx 5 hours after contact was lost. A 'ping' to satellites was the key to this information apparently. LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

Nightmare scenario

Read the article, study the picture,

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/asia-pacific/3143462.stm

Plane could possibly have reached Khazakstsn, an area full of old Soviet nuclear material, another spectacular?
A plane loaded with nuclear waste and Chinese hostages, flown into the heart of a city, the Chinese would be extremely annoyed to say the least if it was shot down, the country below would not want it down in their territory, the city it hit would be off limits for thousands of years. A nightmare scenario indeed, possibly why there is so much secrecy and mis information surrounding this whole event? Yes, it's far fetched but not beyond the realms of possibility.
Here's hoping not...

If I remember correctly, from initial reports, the plane was on a 6 hr flight with an endurance (total flying time given the amount of fuel carried) of 8 hrs. The last reported position was about 3 hours after take-off. Now this leaves about 5 hrs of flying time left.
The "ping continued for about 5 hours after last position(contact), indicating it was flying till it ran out of fuel (and hence loss of power to power the transmitter)
If it flew north-ish as one of the possibilities on the map shows, surely other radars en route would have picked up an unknown "blip" on their screens and hence some radar operator somewhere would have raised this point by now.
To have just NO report would add weight to the theory that it flew south-east, out over the ocean until it ran out of fuel, and ditched.
Certainly sounds like hijack/suicide. A well thought out plan.

The big problem with this is what is being admitted officially and what is about in rumours gradually get admitted as a fact. The rumour that the aircraft was still flying 5 hours after the "disappearance came out early in the week but not officially admitted until the weekend. The problem seems that it is known where it is, but admitting you know would then admit where you have assets that can do this. The cold war is still pretty alive and well, so we will find out just listen to rumours on various websites one of them will be true. Whatever is going on is embarrassing to one of the big three that operate in the east and I suspect that when it can be resolved the plane will be found. my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

There are lots of satellites continually taking pictures of every part of the globe, and also considerable coverage by "real" radar. Perhaps even more than one country has information and are just waiting to get the prints back from Boots. Everyone can spread it - Anyone can catch it. Stay home - the life you save can be your own!

I find it odd that's it's taken a week of looking in the wrong place. Maybe I'm over suspicious, But I'd have expected a better sense of urgency. Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.
