I'd like to add a vote for keeping the freelander and buying a roof box, I've got 3 kids and a dog and does the job for us! |

Thanks again folks but estate cars are a big no no for me, as are roof boxes I'm afraid (sorry!) I think we're going for an RRS, can pick up a decent mileage V8 for under £20k. I'm not too concerned about running costs, it's our only car in the household. Unless I see a great deal on a D3 while on my car hunt! |

I love my RRS TDV8, but get a good warranty, they do tend to have "niggles"!! |

Seen a nice RRS TDV6 at Stratstone but it's got 80k on the clock. I've managed to get a 2 year service plan (2 MOT's, 2 services and 2 annual checks) and 12 month warranty thrown into the deal but I'm stumbling over the high mileage. I know if these engines are looked after properly they can motor on forever and buying direct from LR as part of their "cherished" scheme should be pretty safe?? I think I need persuading either way! |

Some would say 80k on a TDV6 it's just run in. |

80k and the next two services, your a lucky boy, at 105k it's a big belt change and when they do it, make sure they use the genuine LR kit, it will come with new tensioners, Dealers of a certain pebble are known to cut corners. Just check the warranty carefully as I think at 80k it won't be LR Warranty. |

I think that's cheap, I know of one that had both Turbos replaced, plus all the suspension bushes as it is easier with the body off to do the bushes, it was over £8k the dealer had quoted £11k |

FL2 will be plenty big enough once you get over the baby/toddler thing, honest. We've just had 2 years of family holidays in a 2012 Defender 90 with two kids <10, surfboards, wetsuits, etc (have you seen the luggage space behind the rear seats in a 2012 90?). Having just acquired a FL2, I'm considering renting out the spare space in the boot as student accommodation. Get a roof box to get you past the next year or so and save a fortune. Hope that is helpful. Current: 2013 SD4 XS
