Hi Guys,

What are your recommendations for a shampoo product and a sealant? I have just run out of shampoo and it's like a mine field! I usually wax the car with a carnuba wax but would like to try a sealant for a change.

Cheers!

i like neutral shampoos with no added wax, so i used Gtechniq shampoo and as a sealant you can't got wrong with Gtechniq C2v3 Liquid Crystal sealent

these have come recommended by lots of pro detailers and the results are fantastic

Or look at Wolf Chemicals equivilents, nano shampoo and either Bodywrap or hard body sealant

Hi npinks,

Is it the "g-wash" that you use? I've heard good reviews about the c2v3, any tips for application?

Cheers!

it is the G-Wash i use, i got a free bottle when a order was delayed and it was great, I also like Zymol Clear Auto Bathe, and wolf chemicals WS-2N - Nano Shampoo - "Nano Bathe" as i have nano coatings on the wifes car, I also bought a 25L barrel of turtle wax shampoo from costco in a mad fit of car product purchases, think i still have 24 litres left, its good for quick rinses etc, but dulls down the beading of the gtechniq stuff due to leaving wax behind

C2v3, its a simple to use product, spray on a light coating and wipe, using less once your MF cloth is damp with product, then buff with another MF cloth to a lovely shine, keep folding the buffing cloth and change to a new one regularly

C1.5 silo seal is another good product, easier to apply, in a less buffing sort of way, but c2v3 doesn't need much and lasts longer

Would the c2v3 be suitable for use after a polish? Usually apply wax after but would a sealant do the same job?

Thanks for answering my questions, just starting to get into car cleaning as I have moved off the farm and the car stays clean for longer than an hour!

yes it would be fine

i normally, snowfoam, jetwash rinse and shampoo (2 bucket method) rinse and then claybar, then wash and rinse again then polish & buff off then apply the c2v3 on top of the paint

Polishing is preparing the paint, this will take out any light scratches, leaving a surface ready for a sealant or wax, the sealing and or waxing is something a lot of people miss out thinking i've just polished it and that has protected it

i'm sure C2v3 can be used ontop of a wax too, (though that might be C1.5, or both)

don't forget to seal your alloys too Thumbs Up

I've ordered a few toys, so I'll try and post a pic once they've all arrived and I've spent a day at it!

Guys - I need to clean the wind screen... I know there is rainex on there but I think there is some thing else after claying the screen for 30 mins ( based on a suggestion from another thread ).

Any suggestions on the product I can use to take it right back to the glass ?

i think this was due to streaking wasn't it?

if you have tried claying the screen, and that didn't work, then i would try something like, iron x or similar, or a strong dilution of a all purpose cleaner, or even fairy liquid

i assume you have tried the assorted glass cleaners and maybe household white vinigar

For me, it's either Muc Off's own shampoo or my next purchase will be Autobrite Directs - Banana Gloss or Purple Velvet, both VERY good shampoos. Purple Velvet dilution is 1500:1, £12 for 500ml, one capful for 15 litres!

Sealant wise, Dodo Juice Supernatural Acrylic is my weapon of choice, lasted the winter and more.

Glass wise.....I had the same trouble with a glass sealant that caused mayhem on the Freelander screen (Autobrite Repel). I used a strong mix of APC, then vinegar afterwards....it took some doing, never again will I use a 'repelling' sealant!! In the end I used some Farecla Shampoo designed for stripping wax/sealant to remove the last bit. 2013 FL2 - Black Edition Auto
