Auto Lights

Hi to All,

Has anyone experienced the auto lights staying on permanently in daylight, after coming out of a tunnel?

Happened to me this morning in bright sun - I stopped and switched the engine off, started it again and it seems to have re-set itself, but that is the second time its happened. Has usually been working ok.

Wondered if its a common "fault" and I just put up with it until the service Question FL2 TD4 XS Santorini

Not had any problems yet - lights normally take about 20 secs to turn off after a tunnel

No problems either but maybe next time it happens just turn the lights off from the knob and then after a couple of seconds turn the knob back on auto and without stopping and restarting the engine, and see if the lights go on again Thumbs Up
Check if the auto lights sensor on your windshield does not have any dirt on the sensor that might give the lights the wrong information. FREELANDER 2 TD4 SE (XS UK) IZMIR BLUE SIDE STEPS COLD PACK BI-XENON TINTED WINDOWS - AND PROUD OF HER

The problem doesn't seem to have arisen again since my original posting.

I know these things are not the end of the world but if accesorries like auto lights are fitted, I feel they should work 100% - Small bitch really when weighed up against the benefits of having a FL2........ Embarassed FL2 TD4 XS Santorini

I don't know whether this has been discussed but do the auto lights only come on as full headlights not sidelights? Mine seem to come on full when the light is barely fading and I have to switch them down manually no good when you're used to the car doing it for you!!

The FL2 is so relaxing the less I have to do the better...

Any help with the lights would be great, guys.

Full beam on mine too, but I don't mind. I wonder whether sometimes people think I am flashing them when driving under bridges, they come on then off again Very Happy Phil

Couple of weeks on from my original post and all is still working as it should on the Auto lights front. Probably just a blip and I shouldn't have posted about it in the first place Whistle
I think that the main beam will come on if the stalk is in the "pulled towards the driver" position - Logic says that should happen, surely? FL2 TD4 XS Santorini

.

Mine come on in a tunnel and 'eventually' when I travel up a very shaded lane with trees blotting out the light. They don't come on at twilight until much later than I would prefer. It seems that mine aren't very sensitive. Is there any way they can be tweaked Question

They come on in either main or dipped, so it's just where you parked the stalk. Was GS TD4 Auto, Privacy, Santorini with Tundra & Alpaca, Cold Climate Pack. Traded for Discovery Sport HSE Auto.

no problem

I doubt there is any problem with your auto lights. They are a useful feature on the car, but certainly not infallible. I have come to accept that just occasionally I have to do something myself! Life is not a dress rehearsal!

I really don't understand the problem if the lights DO stay, OK its not how they are designed to work, but is it problem if the lights stay on? Does it cause any harm?

As time goes by I believe we'll see more cars with daytime lights, I don't have a problem with this it helps other people to see you, which may help you in the long run because it might help stop some silly Censored pulling out in front of you.

On the same topic I don't understand why there is an option for sidelights when the car is in motion, side lights are **ck all use to anyone (unless they are being used as parking lights) I get really Censored off with drivers that don't understand what lights are for and when they should be used, its not like it costs to put the bloody lights on ...

From what I can see it looks like 2008 BMW's are the latest to move to always on headlamps.
