United Kingdom 2010 Freelander 2 SD4 XS Manual Santorini Black

Just installed the Bluefin and have to say I was staggered at the difference. So glad I did it. I'm not really worried about it 'paying for itself' I do well over 20,000 miles a year so yes it will, but its £300 well spent to improve the driving experience! Just fab!
Thanks for all the advice!

Good on ya! In the end all that matters is that your car is not generic but adapted to suit your style and needs. Thumbs Up

May I suggest that you make a note of your fuel consumption - as calculated rather than whatever your onboard 'mileage left' indication is. May I also suggest that you uninstall it after a month of driving with it, just so you can be absolutely certain it's doing what you want it to.

In the end you'll adapt to having it and possibly sometimes require even more range in the gears that the Bluefin provides. Whereabouts unknown stop going to follow stream until reach civilisation stop message ends

Yeh I travel to Cardiff one day a week every week and measure consumption every time I fill up (coz I'm a bit sad like that LOL) Today I measured it at an average of 42.3mpg sp will do the same trip next week and compare. Its mostly night driving so conditions and speeds remain almost identical. Will be interesting to see the results.

And I know what you mean about getting used to the power, I also own a 1000cc motorbike, and even 0-60 in under 3 seconds kinda bike after a few months feels like you need more! just human nature I guess.

Wait until you check out the kickdown it now provides. Overtakes used to be nothing but a dream until I bought the bluefin. Okay I could always use more torque as Sussex A road speeds are usually annoyingly 40mph due to crap drivers, but the remap does help. Be warned that some drivers won't expect your car to move quite as quickly as it now will.

Don't get me wrong, the re-maps are very good and offer improved performance, but re-mapped Freelander 2's are still no match for many cars on the road.

My 2.2 normally Aspirated Astra Convertible is around the 170bhp mark, and it would destroy a Re-mapped Freeander 2 in a straight line. I say straight line, because of course a Freelander 2 would never out handle a car on the twisty stuff. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. And I wouldn't disagree with some of what you say but it is a lot like saying a FL2 without a remap, would thrash an Astra of any description up a muddy hill. Of course an Astra would do what you say under circumstances but if I didn't enjoy sitting high up in a car that can make a good job of mostly everything, I wouldn't have bought a FL2.

What the Bluefin remap improves, is the mid range torque, which makes overtaking easier, turbo lag almost non-existant and general throttle response much sharper/ faster. This is fairly close overall to what LR did with the newer FL2 SD4's and TD4's. Whereabouts unknown stop going to follow stream until reach civilisation stop message ends

Yes a 330D BMW is a whole 0.6 of a second faster in the mid range ( assuming you put your foot flat to the floor ) Confused Confused

I agree with what you are saying, but my comments were on the subject of views about the FL2 with a re-map being a machine to surprise the buy racers. It will never be a performance car.

Don't forget, I have been running Bluefin on Freelander 2's since 2008 so understand what you get from them.

This is not a criticism of course, just putting into perspective what the re-map will do for Freelander 2 owners. Personally, I think the Freelander TD4 re-map is worth every penny, and it won't be long until I map my SD4. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Yes I totally agree with that. I was going to mention it if only to reduce any disappointment due to expectation of it becoming a time machine Wink but I took the comment as lightheartedly as I think it was meant.

It's never going to beat anything other than a non-remapped FL2 and lesser/poorly driven cars in technical terms but none of it means anything if it's not being driven properly. Same goes for a 330d and everything else with an engine and wheels. Whereabouts unknown stop going to follow stream until reach civilisation stop message ends

Uploaded my Bluefin last night, and I was certainly impressed with the difference.

Much smoother, more responsive and better acceleration.

Can't see it saving me any money fuel-wise though.... Wink Steve
