Agree with Alex, a ring of bolts torqued with the head on one surface and the thread into the other, what more could one do to achieve zero continuity between two components.
While I agree on the earth strap, by insisting it should go on the starter bolt is OTT. After all, it is the poor design of the original earthing that is the issue.

You'll be surprised how many joints are on an electrical installation design because of the regulations... And nobody worries about it...
But hey, if you want to be more catholic than the pope, you're absolutely right, you won...

Don't worry, they make it difficult because they can, the starter bolt is already in place and accessible, it makes perfect sense to use it.

Printed out Dave DND's very helpful guide posted here on the 8th Nov, to show my very helpful local indie guy as I was there for him to fit new wranglers to the front (£121 each.....always give the little guys a chance, you may be pleasantly surprised!)

So he checked out what he would need to do......called me into the workshop to show/inform me the said earth wire was already fitted exactly to Dave DND's instructions, moreover it was his opinion that it was not an aftermarket fit, the routing and the way the earth wire was installed he was convinced it was a factory fit, and this on our MY10 Landy!

So no need for action.....except we have had two occasions of non-start since ownership last April....... once with a totally flat battery (7.5v offload) with no reasonable explanation, and another with the 'famous' HDC fault, self corrected after a 20 min 'rest'

Tis a strange world with a Landy! Kola is the big solid black German Shepherd, Dobbie is.......a breed you've never heard of......yet;)

My car has eco stop/start, does anyone know it the torque wrench settings are different for the starter motor bolts on an TD4.e engine than the normal TD4 engine? I know the TD4 engine, the bolts are 40Nm. As the starter is said to be a bit beefier for stop/start on an TD4.e, just wondered if the torque settings were any different? Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.

Finally got around to fitting the additional earthing strap and I have posted a couple of pictures in my gallery for those interested showing the the earth wire bolted to the starter motor and also to the battery earth terminal. A few personal observation are as follows.

1) Remove the air filter box as it makes the job quite easy.
2) Check which bolt is easiest to get at on the starter motor. This could vary dependent on how tight the loom is in the immediate vicinity.. On mine it would have been easier to get to the top bolt but with the lead at 31" long it was a bit tight so used the right hand bolt which can be seen where my socket spanner is in the picture. If I was to do the job again I would add a couple of inches to the length and fit to the top bolt.
3) It will be personal choice on where you decide to route the cable but after a fair bit of deliberation I decided to grind the top of the battery box with a dremel ensuring that the cover fitted back flush without and sign of trapping.

It will be interesting to see if it cures the issues I was starting to get

Fitting the additional earth strap has certainly made a difference with no further problems since it was done. My sons started to have similar issues so I fitted an extra earth strap to his and as expected, his problems also went away. To my mind it is well worth doing even if you do not have any issues at this moment in time.

Well it is on her Ladyship's FL2 - and no starter problems so far between minus 27°C to plus 40°C.
