You'll be surprised how many joints are on an electrical installation design because of the regulations... And nobody worries about it...

You misunderstand. I`m not insisting it goes on the starter bolt, but when the starter bolt is only two inches away to the left, its a bit of a no-brainer when it comes to connecting to it. Don`t really see why you lot are trying to make it so difficult ? I could understand it if the starter was a ball-ache to get at, but in this case, the bolt that would do the most good, is actually staring you in the face when you get this far - crazy to not use it? |

Don't worry, they make it difficult because they can, the starter bolt is already in place and accessible, it makes perfect sense to use it. |

Finally got around to fitting the additional earthing strap and I have posted a couple of pictures in my gallery for those interested showing the the earth wire bolted to the starter motor and also to the battery earth terminal. A few personal observation are as follows.

[quote="Dave DND"]I have recently aqquired my Freelander and slowly working through the faults and niggles that I have with it. I`m fairly sure that this will have been covered already, but its such a good fix that its worth mentioning again.

Fitting the additional earth strap has certainly made a difference with no further problems since it was done. My sons started to have similar issues so I fitted an extra earth strap to his and as expected, his problems also went away. To my mind it is well worth doing even if you do not have any issues at this moment in time. |

My 2010 auto she only has one earth, to the bodywork. Haven't had any of the mentioned problems, but I think I will do this mod just incase. Thanks to those who have contributed |
