For the genuine front bar on my freelander 1 land rover supplied steel rivnuts and the tool that you've pictured would not compress the riv nuts at all Big Cry So I went the full hog and bought this Mr. Green did the job in seconds well worth the money too Thumbs Up brilliant bit of kit....

Thought I would follow up my issue of the steps feeling flexy. My issue is that the bars running from the steps into the brackets were too short ... didn't matter how I adjusted brackets, the way the steps were, the bars would not reach the end of the bracket. This left a gap where the bar could slide inwards when weight was put on the step, and it felt like it was flexing. Gap shown here:

Solution was to buy a few end-stops (30mm square) from ebay, only a few quid for a pack of 10.

Once all back in, and a bit of fiddling with the brackets, the gap has now gone and the steps are much more solid feeling, with only a tiny tiny bit of flex when stepped on. that flex is a result of the crap 2 piece bracket design though more than anything else.

Scotland 2008 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Manual Stornoway Grey

Hi all, been reading lots here for a few weeks now, Great site with lots of good info. Just fitted side steps and like you fisha I can't get square tubes to sit right back into bracket. Will get the end plugs like you have. Only other mod done so far is windows tinted yesterday.

2007 se model.
