I do and will carry on as normal when I see horses, its all relative I dont drive fast on the country roads in question in the first place so as not to be surprised when finding a horse, bike, tractor etc around a blind bend.
So the need to slow down isnt there.
honestly if a horse isnt traffic trained it shouldnt be on road were cars can drive fast anyway, yes they have to start somewhere, but I have seen many untrained horses rearing and bucking in the road , a scary and unpleasent sight.
They need to be trained on roads with wide verges so the rider can steer the horse onto the verge when cars approach, A rider flapping and angrily waving (or worse) at motorists when the horse gets spooked while still on the tarmac is hardly the cars fault

If cars etc are stuck behind my tractor for a while the best way to thank them is to pull over, I do this for two reasons 1. its polite 2 its hard work driving a tractor on a bump road while watching the mirror waiting for the car behind to get impatient and overtake in a crazy place. At work

It is the cars fault if it's spooked because of the horn.

The guy needs to read section 214/15 of the Highway Code. They are a vulnerable road user, animals can be spooked easily, if the horse starts to wander over the line, you don't sound the horn and go through anyway, pull back until safe to pass. He's lucky it was only the whip thrown at his car and not the horse rider landing on his bonnet. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

Strikes me they are both at fault, I'd have fined em both, him for being a plonker and her for riding 2 abreast.

I think they both should go and read the highway code again Neutral  MY2014 SD4 XS

The Highway Code is quite different to the Road Traffic Act. The Highway Code is just that - a code, whether you choose to follow it or not is your choice, nothing contained within it for not following it following it is punishable by Law.

It was written when we had respect for our fellow man/woman/road user. Nowadays, no-one gives a toss and courtesy is non-existent.

They should have both been fined. Him more so, because he drives an Audi! Laughing Foraging near Gaydon....

Its all about empathy and consideration for other people; something increasingly lacking in our society.
For what its worth I like cyclists, horse riders, caravan owners, tractor drivers , van drivers, dog owners, Landrover geeks, BMWs etc etc (Ive am/been all of them) . I dont like anyone of them if they fail to show me some respect and consideration.

Reading about the incident; both parties lost their tempers but Mr Knox failed first in considering the consequences of his dangerous actions. He is 18 with 3 points - enough said (maybe swap X for b Wink ) Jules

They tried to lower the horse population by secretly adding them to certain meat dishes. In this case it doesn't appear to have made any difference.
Perhaps they are now secretly thinking of adding Audi drivers to certain meat products.
