Changing energy supplier?

I'm looking at changing my gas and electric supplier. I've had problems with Npower and British gas (both were incompetent) i'm currently with Atlantic which in all fairness I cant fault them except they have changed my tariff so i'm now worse off.

Has anyone heard of Spark energy, Ovo energy or First utility? Anyone had any bad dealings with these companies? They are coming up cheaper than the big six but they don't have brilliant reviews.

Spark Energy came out top in a comparison site recently for me but like you, I wasn't happy with their reviews. I stayed with EDF but on a different lower priced fixed tariff and low and behold, a week later they upped their prices - just in the nick of time.

Part of the contract is that they will inform me within 10 days of ANY other companies beating my current EDF price by £50 a year or more and there's no minimum contract time so I can switch without penalty. Customer services were really good at the time of change over to the new tariff as well. MY2010 TD4 HSE Santorini Black, 19" Alloys, Almond Leather, Lux Pack, Rear Spoiler, Adaptive Xenons

We're with First Utility for Gas and Electric. Went with them a while ago after a recommendation on the moneysavingexpert web site and fixed our prices for 2 winters (ends April next year). No penalty for leaving them early if you want to. Recently did a comparison and they still came out top for us. They send me an email each month to supply my own meter readings and can adjust the bill accordingly although I'm still paying what I was when I started with them. Got a bit in credit with them during the summer but it will even out this winter. Can't fault them really. Thumbs Up Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto
