Who knows what this is?

MY13 models, in the chrome banding between the 'Audio' on/off' and the 'analogue clock'.
My dealer doesn't know and is enquiring with LR but does anyone here know what it is? Is it a small LED (never seen it illuminate) or sensor maybe? and it's not mentioned in the manual.
Best guesses!

Based on previous vehicles my best guesses are:

1. It's part of the passenger seat occupancy sensor array.

2. It's an internal ambient light sensor used in setting the overall brightness of the displays.

I was looking at that just the other day on my one, thinking the exact same thing.

This is a stab in the dark, is it the sensor for the remote with rear entertainment system?

I don't know if it comes with a remote Embarassed 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

Some interesting replies ......... and some others Rolling Eyes Laughing

I'm surprised no-one else have enquired exactly what it is, I hate seeing something that has no description as to its purpose so it seems I'll have to wait for LR's response because it has beaten the all knowledgeable forum geeks Whistle

I just looked at the interior of a Discovery like you have and it has it as well, if it is a LED as you say and emits an orange glow, is that always or only at night or only with external lights on ?

Just a stab in the dark, but does it send light at the gear lever? The honda civic had a blue led in the roof which sent light down on to the gear lever.

It has to be Infotainment related, as the Heater Controls are lower down. Seen it on during the day, once when reversing off the drive? p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior

Take it out and short the wires. Then see what stops working and which fuse blew. Everyone can spread it - Anyone can catch it. Stay home - the life you save can be your own!
