Police Freelander

Does your local police force use freelander's?

Here in the Greater Manchester Police force area we operate quite a few, some are used in rural areas as well as Manchester Airport.

I have a couple of pics but I'm not sure how to upload them from my iPad?

It would be very interesting to see just how many of the Police forces here and abroad utilise such a versatile vehicle. Pics would be a bonus!

None used in Australia. They use Mitsubishi Pajero (Shogun or Montero over there since pajero is spanish slang for Censored ), Ford Ranger dual cabs and Toyota Troopys. Land Rovers are too expensive over here and the spares and dealer network are almost non existent.

Haven't seen or heard of any Swiss Police Freely. They use Subarus here if some offroad capabilities are required.

Edit: obvoiusly Defenders are on duty here as well.

England

Our local Police have a couple of freelanders for the rural villages, base models but always get through, winter up on the Lancashire moors can be pretty bleak.
We also have a Freelander used by the community police team, it has now been liveried in police colours but doesn't have blue lights, pictured here when it was bought using local grant money

Discoveries up here (Northumberland), but I did see a police-liveried Freelander in Boscastle (Cornwall) a couple of weeks ago.

As Xtralarg says few in this area , the last bad winter 2/3 yrs ago house across from us got burgled , police were on scene quickly and one was arrested at rear of house .
Policewoman called for help and hurry up drive in Freelander 2 lost it coming up our Ave just after left hand bend and went across road and ended up in garden .
Conditions were poor but non 4 wheel drive police car had safely come up the hill minutes before , spect it was too fast for conditions .

I follow a few motorway coppers on Twitter. I tweeted one this morning about if they use winter tyres. His response was that the Volvo's were fitted with them last winter but the 4x4's were not. Maybe that's why the 4x4 cop ended up in the garden? Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.

We use D3s, D4s and a couple of FL2s in the ambulance service in London. They are not across the whole service just a small unit within the service.
