I think this topic crops up on most car forums on an irregular basis as supporters/detractors come and go. i am firmly in the convinced camp albeit the benefits do seem to vary from car to car, engine to engine and will admit my Audi A2 benefits much more noticably than the Freelander. At the moment I am on Vpower and no 2SO simply because I ran out so will be interested to see what difference it makes. I am also now using a DTUK green tuning box which if nothing else has helped reduce the initial throttle 'lurch' so almost worth it for that alone. eh tu?

There is not a lot of "hard" evidence able to be fielded by advocates and there is no evidence at all that I have seen anyway, able to be fielded by detractors.

For information though there's nothing wrong with phantasy as opposed to fantasy just a bit old fashioned and older English rather than more current American style.

The main point of adding approx 200:1 mixture of 2-S oil is to lubricate the high pressure fuel pump rams & cylinders (common rail injection) because of their very tight tolerances. If ordinary (low sulphur) diesel fuel is not treated, then excessive wear will take place in the pump eventually, leading to a lower pressure output which will result in the required injection pressure not being reached. In turn this will lead to poor combustion, less performance, black smoke from the exhaust when you put your foot down and increased fouling of the engine internals. "Super" diesel is better for this necessary extra lubrication, but in my humble opinion, 300ml of 2-s oil is far superior when added to ordinary fuel.

Several people in this thread have referred to "homeopathic" quantities of two-stroke oil added to the fuel.

This would mean waving a bottle of two stroke oil next to the fuel filler for 10 seconds.
