Hi,

How stupid, and talking to a dog-walking friend who has been a train driver for many years, an all to common occurrence, indeed several years ago he hit a car trying to dodge the train, luckily the 75yo driver lived to tell the tale, never the less a traumatic incident for him as he was helpless to react (a normal stop at a station from 70mph....takes over 1.1/2 miles!) Kola is the big solid black German Shepherd, Dobbie is.......a breed you've never heard of......yet;)

Hi, again!

Point of order.... does anyone find the term 'a near miss' as irritating as I do?..... A 'near miss' is in fact a collision!! Kola is the big solid black German Shepherd, Dobbie is.......a breed you've never heard of......yet;)

According to the Oxford English Dictionary a near miss is "a narrowly avoided collision or other accident"

No, can you post a link that says a 'near miss' is a collision. I can post a lot that says the opposite Confused

Does that mean that 'a close call' means shouting in someone's ear Whistle

I grew up in East Yorkshire were level crossings are common, seen many cars trying to dodge barriers. In Snaith were I came from there were no barriers on the crossing at all. That cyclist is so stupid! Barrier, lights etc but still thinks they can beat a train. Thing that these special people don't understand is that if they had been killed it's not just them that's affected, the driver, passengers and emergency services have to cope with the stress of it all. Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.

One of the idiots some time back. Drunk in his mobility scooter, went round the barrier and stopped right next to the line. He had been reported several times before and believe it or not, has done it again since!!

A couple of years back my mate pulled a guy on a mobility scooter going the wrong way down a one way street, 3 times over the limit, CPS said it wasn't in the public interest in a court appearance and he got off Evil or Very Mad

United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Manual Tambora Flame

Watched this this morning.....

You have to wonder how mongspacklers such as these have reached the age where they have been allowed out unattended?

The only saving grace is that the knuckle-dragging invertebrate was sufficiently shaken/confused to turn around and go the other way, hopefully never to try and traverse what is clearly a very complicated piece of apparatus again....

Think you're all being a bit harsh. She's wearing a cycle helmet so would have been fine. Rolling Eyes

It's the train drivers I feel sorry for. _________________

There was an even closer one in Australia last week! When I die, I want to go peacefully like my Grandfather did, in his sleep -- not screaming, like the passengers in his car
