hi, just bought a new freelander 2, and wanted to know if my complete original LR roof rack system including cross-bars (1,8 XEi 5 Door) will fit onto my new one?

Sorry to disappoint. But neither rails nor crossbars from FL1 are interchangeable with FL2. |

Hi, Lots of information but I have a question. The Thule roof bars fasten with brackets under the doors but there are 4 (two on each side) holes at the rear which I assume are for fitting bars. Do the FL2 bars from LR use thes and give a full spread across the roof.

no, these holes are for the rails that the LR bars then fit onto. |

Thanks for that, so I suppose that with the Thule Bars you are only have a bridge of about 100mm as you are restricted to the bars fitting under the doors. With the L/R bars am I right in assuming that you can bridge the lenght of the roof. |

Just bought the Thule set up as I will only use bars twice a year and I prefer the look of the FL2 without rails.

After much deliberation (and reading of the previous posts on rails etc..) finally decided to go with the Thule bars (prefer the look of the FL2 without the rails) & a nice glossy black box to match. Very impressed with them Took a few piccies @ centre parcs whilst on holiday... got called a saddo by my 5 year old daughter !!!
