United Kingdom

just been to the caravan and tried it on there

Had to wait 20 minutes on hold to speak with Al-ko to see where the best jacking points were, as my twin mover covers the area al-ko designed there points, luckily they got the info to me in 5 minutes as the phone cut off

They have adviced, the double thickness section were the chassis bolts to the axles frames or the 3 inch thick cross beam that goes from one side to the other

any way the jack will mainly be used for the caravan as the 4x4 is covered on LRA so they will change my wheels, and the standard jack will suffice if they cant help

so for the sake of thirty quid and the saving in weight and size, i'll make do with this for the time been Thumbs Up Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

France 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Manual Narvik Black

Most of the guys in a garage workshop I worked in had Snap-on torque wrenches which cost the earth. Every year the man came round to check and re-calibrate torque wrenches. The only mechanic whose wrench was fine and did not need re-calibrating had a Halfords torque wrench. I now own a Halfords torque wrench!

As an aside on trolley jacks, I have two Sealey jacks but old age has now lead me to order one of these -

A french jack will:

give up when the going gets tough
not work for most of every afternoon
demand state handouts before operating
try and shag all the other tools in the workshop At work
At home

The French jacks on that website look exactly the same as the Chinese ones that an acquaintance of mine imports from China by the container load.
Come to that so do all the 2 post and 4 post garage hoists.

Bill, it is hard to find anything nowadays that is not made in China. As long as it is western designed and meets quality and safety specs I don't really care where it is made.
Having said this, I did try to buy an English made lift of the same type but they would not ship it across the channel! John
