England 2013 Freelander 2 SD4 XS Auto Mauritius Blue

I do and I don't envy you the situation you find yourself in. I wouldn't know which way to jump either.

Logic tells me to wait for the new/replacement Freelander and have the joy of owning one of the first new models on the road. Having done that when the very first Freelanders came out I still remember feeling great driving around in that car. Then again new models often bring along with them teething problems and it is sometimes wise to wait for the revamp the following year. I was lucky with my Freelander, but many weren't in the early days.

Then buying an MY13 at what will likely be a knockdown price closer to the new model would also be tempting as having one myself right now I can say they are a pleasure to drive.

Reading also what you have done to your current car it would seem a shame to sell that right now.

All in all I think if it were me I would wait for the new model and stick with what is a good looking and reliable car in the meantime, but as many have said the choice has to be yours at the end of the day. Good Luck Mr. Green Joanne

Personally I would hang on and either buy a run-out FL2 next year when there will be special editions loaded with kit or sign up to drive the replacement off the forecourt on day 1. My 'ex' was in the motor trade and we soon realised ultimately bangernomics is the best way to limit depreciation (which is the biggest cost of running a car) and the aforementioned options are the best way to limit losses if you must buy new/nearly new. It is kind and generous people like you that I love to buy cars from and generate their depreciation costs to my bank balance! Wink I paid £11k for my recently acquired 2009 'S' spec with options and full dealer history, MOT, taxed, new tyres etc so thanks to the previous owner for buying another! eh tu?

I like the two posts above, they make a lot of sense.

Having a new model is great!

I have the 3rd Zafira GSi in the country back in 2002 which turned loads of heads and I really had a buzz driving it, and when we bought our FL2, they had only been out for 6 months and were not that common at the time.

I think the idea of keeping it for another 12 months or so, and then re-looking at the situation makes sense as it will give me two options :-

A) buy a current shape car which LR will no doubt do a few special editions
B) wait for the new car

Either way, my depreciation is going to be nothing between now and 12 months time, but it will still be in a near on perfect condition. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

Yep, I agree you really have all the balls in your court now, so it would be a shame to jump to a purchase too soon. Bide your time and see what the offers are nearer the new car. Joanne

The key question is: were you a kid who took the sweet immediately or was happy to wait a bit to get two later??

One of the few advantages of my ex was her working in 'the trade' and having access to new models so i remember the feeling well! The last time i bought new was 2006 when i bought Astra CDTi 888 build no 8 out of 100............ the first time I bought new was 1983 when i bought a new Polo formel 'E' on low rate finance such it made buying new cheaper than used. However my A2 i bought at 4 years old in 2008 is still serving me well, still like it, costs very little to run and maintain in spite of averaging 19k miles /year and haven't a clue what i would swap that for. eh tu?

The other important thing is that the Mrs still loves it, as do I.

I think this line answers your own question, you still have a love for the car, your not bored with it, another 18 months isn't long. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200
