The rear nearside door centralised locking system has packed up on my 09 FL2 GS. Fortunately it will still open and operate manually by using small top latch inside. Local auto electrician tells me its a common problem and a new motor costs an arm and a leg. plus full strip down of back door and refit. £300 ish He told me probably not worth the expense. ( common sense advice, unusual at a garage these day's. .)
Only use door occasionally and if I remember to manually lock before leaving doesn't really affect use of vehicle.. Tempted to just forget about it
QUESTIONS :- is this a common fault for just one lock to pack up.?? How difficult is it to strip the door down.? ( looks pretty well glued together to an old DIY fixer who cut his teeth on door panels of series I and IIs.)

Ive had the same problem, but it was easily fixed as the connection plug to the central locking solenoid inside the door had come off, apparently it can with slamming the door closed.
Might only be that, but you need to remove the door trim to find out.

My RR door lock gave up yesterday...there is small movement of inside latch when lock operates but not sufficient to lock/unlock the door.Works well when operated manualy.I am going to replace it next week together with some soundproofing work...

Exactly same on mine too,started last week,just going to live with it for now till I get the time to take the door card off.

I had the same problem on the Mrs 2011 FL2 and couldn't even be bothered to wait till the dealer to do it under warranty, It was £61 inc vat and about an hour to fit. Couple of screws and pull off the door card lifting as you pull off to unclip the top then its just a matter of a bit of patience to wiggle the doorlock/locking mechanism out and refit it all. The dealer couldn't fit it in for over 2 weeks and my 2 year old sits that side so didn't want anything untoward happening to the door.

Repaired my door lock today - works fine so far and it took only two hours to do the job .Honestly if I would do this for my customer I would simply replace the lock but as its my car and I have nothing to loose I tried it as on a few cars before.If you want to try it by your self look at my gallery
