Another stupid question. Why would you want to blank off the EGR? Ralph

It is generally believed that the EGR, which is designed to lower the amount of Nitrogen Oxide (which is killing a few thousand people a year here in London), lowers the performance. In older engines, such as the TD5, it was easy to blank off. My feeling is that the improvement is usually marginal at best, but the valve can stick open, leading to a serious deterioration in performance. If this happens blanking it off is an excellent solution, and the result on my TD5, which almost certainly had a stuck EGR valve, was very noticeable.
At present there is no cheap reliable test for NOx emissions. As soon as they develop one it will probably become part of the MoT test.

Squeegy - you cannot have been reading this thread or even googled it as there are plenty of people FL2 included who are using 2s. Up the Cobblers

I will be using 2so in my fl2 when i eventually collect it this weekend having successfully run the stuff in my A2 tdi for about 20k miles with excellent results. There is some uncertainty whether it is a pre/post DPF model though. eh tu?

In Northern Ireland our MOT is done via government test centres which are like an assembly line off vehicles being tested conveyer belt style, each station is fully computerised on screen in front of you, you sit beside the examiner, they are really into their testing of the vehicles, especially emissions, my vehicle has passed 3 years running with no problems.
If I had known about the 2 stroke on my previous TD4s, I wouldn't have spent so much on replacing faulty fuel pumps and lifters.
I have also been stopped by customs here a few times, where they test the fuel for red or green diesel (Republic of Ireland have green agricultural diesel),( if you mix it with white you get Italian diesel Confused ) and again the road side test shows nothing, so happy enough to keep adding it to the tank, the jeep runs quieter and there is a difference in economy also.

I have read page after page of this thread. Yes plenty of FL2 guys here using it. But if you read what I asked primarily was how may FL2 owners WITH DPF equipped cars are actually using 2T oil. I have googled countless pages and find lacking information on people with DPF cars actually using it.

You won't get many on here posting that they are using 2so with a DPF as the UK was only fitted as standard from MY11, they are still under warranty and won't want to advertise it.

Sqeegy - if you read the first 10/15 pages of this thread Y-F seems to be stating that Jaso FC (better grade)is ok for diesels with DPF(For diesel engines with DPF the semi-synthetic Liqui Moli no. 1052 JASO FC has proved to be the most suitable product). Thumbs Up

LM 1052 is a German Oil and is very expensive in the UK. For instance ValvoLine Jaso FC is readily available in the UK and appears to be equivalent. Try PM'ng those FL2 members with DPF and ask them what they use etc Idea Up the Cobblers

Also look at Silkolene who do a semi-synth FC grade 2so. Can be bought in 4L cans so might make it cheaper too. eh tu?
