I know this is an old post.. But are these the rubber strips that run around the inside lip of the arches? If so is this offer still running?

From memory, I think I only have one of these fitted to my FL. Is this the 'U' shaped piece of trim that fits on the inward facing lip of the wheel arch? I only saw it because it was hanging off. Looked like a piece of trim that I had fitted to the door/roof/sill flange of my 1965 Ford Anglia 105E! On that, they just covered up the sharp flange edge. I can't work out what they actually protect on the Freelander though. Can someone explain? Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

They stop you cutting your finger when youre polishing the plastic wheel arch liner.

I removed one of mine to have a look see and it's actually a good dirt/water trap without them. There is a gap between the edge of the liner and the inner metalwork as well as a gap for dirt/water to get behind the liner, so they act as a bit of an overlapping seal between the two items.
As for what they do for the metal wheel arch lip is only a guess but probably protection from tyre flyoff debris sand blasting the lip return paintwork, this was always a good spot for rust to start bubbling in the old days.

Thanks so much Dan, The new set look so much better than the one i took of, didn't seem to have the metal strip in the old one to keep them in shape, these new ones look nice and robust
