Nigel52 asks if there are two types of freelanders out there, in short yes there are , manuals and autos, we had autos as loaners when the d3 was in for service, the mpg on them was not much better than the d3,

So we bought a manual freelander, at the moment we are averaging 32mpg on local runs, so about what I was hoping for,

(I was hoping to get 30mpg) doing the daily run so up on that , on a run 40mpg would be nice, and towing 25mpg

Just had a quick Easter trip to Cornwall from the east coast of 'Hull' and back, left at 2.15 am in the morning and managed cruise control for a good part of the 360 mile journey down. I reset all when I joined the M62 just outside of Hull and at Exeter the average speed was 69 mph and that came with 36.2 mpg.

Pleased with that, then I wasted it all by detouring to Princetown on Dartmoor for a good greasy breakfast place I know of.

Filled up this morning, Shell V Power as usual, the SD4 auto loves it, very smooth, quiet and very responsive.
However, was feeling relaxed today so took the 38 mile drive to the office casually, following the HGV's down the M6, M58,M57 into Knowlsey.



This was the result of the journey, mainly motorway with about 5 miles on A roads through town in stop/start traffic, it topped 52mpg on the motorway but there is a roundabout near the office where I had to gun it and it dropped back, still impressive though.



I then travelled up to South Shields from Knowsley (Liverpool) went via the A66, so a coast to coast trip with a 1500 foot peak in the middle to cross, so not a flat easy trip by any means, this photo was taken on the way back a few mins from home after a 320 round trip, I stuck to 65-70 on the Motorway and speed limits on other roads

Oops, filled up yesterday, reset trip this morning, 1000 miles so far this week, head is spinning

I got 26mpg for my fill up today, I think that's my best ever  Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I will see what I get around Kielder this weekend, going up Saturday, have been granted access up some private tracks to search for an old plane wreck.
I bet I still get 30+

I don't hang about, but short starty stoppy trips don't help

Driving on forest trails wrecks my mpg.

Ha ha, and it was good, 2 eggs, 2 sausages, 2 bacon, mushrooms, 2 hash browns, beans and 2 rounds of toast with a mug of tea. I declined the black pudding and tomato so added another hash brown to fill the empty space on the plate.

If ever you get the chance it's called the 'Fox Tor Cafe'

That area is more akin to porridge rather than a full fry up
