I took my wifes 60 plate FL2 out for a drive yesterday and noticed a squeek/squealing from the o/s/r wheel. Obviously it had not been like it until I used it so it must be my fault. If I gently touch the brakes it goes totally, leading me to think brake pads either glazing over or de-laminating or just simply need taking out cleaning up and copper slipping. Just wondered if anyone had come across this before??

Thought about that but why would it stop when I apply the footbrake??

had same, it was handbrake shoes, and yes it did stop when using foot brake At work

Same here and more than once.
Copper slip on the caliper guides cured it  Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

Had the same with mine - eased slightly when turning and when applying brakes. Turned out that both rear pads had been sticking and had worn them down at quite an alarming angle and had delaminated. Given the materials in use now the disks were both past their best so changed out the lot.

Local garage did the work for £90 including parts which I was pretty happy with...

me, what did they use, secondhand parts? I'm in the trade and I recently paid £122 just for the parts - rear discs and pads. Mintex ones so not ultra expensive. How on earth, even using the poorest quality, how can a proper garage supply and fit rear discs and pads for £90? Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

Not gonna be very happy if it does want any work except a clean up and a copper slip as it was in dealer 1600 miles ago for a 24000 mile service!!

Had the same problem on mine for a while now (ref one of my previous posts). This afternoon I changed the rear pads and discs and I cannot believe how different it is. No squeal or grinding whatsoever. The back of the disks were badly corroded / worn (there is a good write up and some pics on this on another post) but surprisingly the handbrake shoes were near perfect (51,000 miles). Bit of copper grease and refitted, no problem.

At last I got back from the windfarm and onto dry land so I thought it was about time to try to fix the squeeling brakes. All I ended up doing was stripping off the caliper and cleaning the crap from under the stainless steel pad carriers and copperslipped them, then refitted them with copious amounts of copperslip on the sliders. Problem solved.Thankfully!!!!
