Afternoon people,

Does anybody know, definitively, if the rear Polished Steel Treadplate (LR Part #VPLFB0040) can be removed once it has been applied? Mine came with it already on, so wouldn't know how/what it was applied with. The answer I'm looking for is from someone who may have attempted this already, or knows what it is applied with....so without wishing to sound rude, please don't guess if you don't know.

If it were mine and I didn't want it I would unclip the complete rear tread plate from the bumper and stick it on the bay, and replace it with the standard one. The trim is held on with 3m tape and some sort of adhesive.

Not guessing, just looked up the fitting instructions

I had a feeling that it would be stuck on further with Sikaflex or similar....might be too much of a ball ache to remove after all. Foraging near Gaydon....

The plastic strip that the Treadplate is fixed to easily unclips from the bumper though

someone on here might be willing to swap  p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior

It can be done as someone on eBay sold one that had come of the car.

My last Fl2 had it fitted, as I done such a great job of doing it, the thing started to come off.

The answer to your question is yes it can come of but may leave a bit of a mess depending on how well it was stuck on. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

Hits a bit extreme, you may not like the Treadplate but to replace the whole vehicle

Just to update this thread...following the advice in the video provided above by Aero_383, I can happily confirm that with a bit of patience and a heat gun, this Treadplate came off easily. Further, so did the rear Latch finisher, as well as my exorbitantly expensive LR Sill Treadplates front and rear. So to say that I am feeling pretty chuffed about it all is an understatement
