It's the other one, according to the version of the Topix manual I have. I.e. the right one as seen from the driver's seat.

Your Topix pdf is showing for a LH drive, is the same side kept for a RH drive though |

I think so. At the top of the Component Location pages it says "NOTE: Left-Hand Drive (LHD) shown; Right-Hand Drive (RHD) similar." It's the only version I have. |

I just looked and I have the RH drive topix version, the microswitch is in the same place irrespective of LH or RH drive, right hand side (same side as driver in this case) |

Hopefully this image works this time, thanks for the edit. So this is the drivers side unit looks exactly same as the passenger side, is the sensor built into this or is it something else all together? I read you can just bypass the sensor by joining the wires together, im happy to just do that when I figure out which wires exactly, is it the 2 white wires that lead into the plug there or something else? Thanks for the replies, hopefully get this fixed soon as its irritating |

No, don't short it out until you know exactly what you are looking at.

About the only thing I can find near the hood release latch is what ive pictured, any other wires there seem to run more to the centre or to the radiator.
Thats the drivers side (RH side) plug I can see thats closest to the bonnet release. This is what ive pictured and about my only guess as to what is the bonnet sensor can anyone actually confirm it? the 2 wires are light green/white and light gray/white though nothing like the above poster mentioned. Or am I looking in the entire wrong spot? |

Ok so poked my head around a little more and found another plug that looks like it would plug right into the hood release, its also coloured blue/orange and black/yellow so im guessing thats the one.

Neighbour couldnt get round today and im sick of being afraid to lock my car so dug out my wire strippers, cut and joined the 2 (leaving enough so I could rejoin them if it was the wrong switch) and just wrapped some more electrical tape around it.

The alarm on ours had been going off randomly, I guessed it was this switch but it was confirmed when the wife hit a pot hole and "bonnet open" flashed up on the dash.
Oh and if there is any confusion about which plug, it's this one...
Wrapped the plug in tape, that'll be the last I ever hear of it... ![]() 2009 Jaguar XKR 4.2 S/C Portfolio 2005 Jaguar XJR 4.2 S/C Black/Cranberry 2005 Jaguar X-Type 3.0L AWD - Gone |
