I recently went through 17 miles of road works on the M62. My trip computer said 47mpg. I went at 50 all the way as it was 50 limit. I was impressed. Most of my driving is town driving and computer says 27mpg. Just done an 100 mile trip to North Wales and computer says 35mpg. All in all, once I got over the rattles Iam liking my car. SD4 at work on a 200 mile round trip on the A14, M6 and M5 averaged 38 mpg at an average speed of 65 mph and it's only done 2000 miles. |

Well it's make or break time for SWMBO 's Freelander,I've just booked ferry tickets for a few days at Eurodisney in a weeks time. She wants to take the 'new' car and see if her pretty poor 31 mpg will be improved upon on a decent run.We would normally take my Chrysler which from many thousands of miles experience we know will sit all day at 130kmh loaded to the roof and still return 37/38 mpg, if the little ,4 cylinder diesel with a 6 speed manual can't match this any justification for not swapping to a D3 or Grand Cherokee will look very shaky.Especially if I've got a permanent. centre console shaped dent in my left knee! 2007 Freelander 2 2.2TD4 HSE manual (Hers)

Had the 2009 TD4 HSE Auto for 6 weeks now and two long trips have provided very different results.

The point is though 65mph is soul destroying, as is driving your average eurobox.

I travelled from North Wales today to West Yorkshire, 120 miles, mostly motorway not going above 70 and in 6th gear most of the way. Average MPG way 37. Iam very happy with this. Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.

I only ever reset the MPG at each service, like to see what the average is between service intervals!
