Beat That.!!

Been running a TD5 Defender for last ten years getting 26/27 mpg av.. Sad
Got my 09 FL2 last October and growing to love it more each trip out, dead comfy and capable in snow and mud.
But the real suprise Surprised has been the mpg return, just done a long trip, filled her up and checked the mpg av. 37.1
Whow.. Really impressed Laughing Laughing

England 2013 Freelander 2 TD4_e GS Auto Sumatra Black

I recently went through 17 miles of road works on the M62. My trip computer said 47mpg. I went at 50 all the way as it was 50 limit. I was impressed. Most of my driving is town driving and computer says 27mpg. Just done an 100 mile trip to North Wales and computer says 35mpg. All in all, once I got over the rattles Iam liking my car. Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.

SD4 at work on a 200 mile round trip on the A14, M6 and M5 averaged 38 mpg at an average speed of 65 mph and it's only done 2000 miles.

Came back from working away in Scotland to find Clementine missing. Borrowed by eldest son!
He had been to Dudley with the trailer to pick up a Megan engine, about 200 miles.

I get 24-31 mpg solo, a best of 34mpg - once.
So was a little surprised that the trip read 38+mpg

Sons response was it was about time I learned how to drive! Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her

Well it's make or break time for SWMBO 's Freelander,I've just booked ferry tickets for a few days at Eurodisney in a weeks time. She wants to take the 'new' car and see if her pretty poor 31 mpg will be improved upon on a decent run.We would normally take my Chrysler which from many thousands of miles experience we know will sit all day at 130kmh loaded to the roof and still return 37/38 mpg, if the little ,4 cylinder diesel with a 6 speed manual can't match this any justification for not swapping to a D3 or Grand Cherokee will look very shaky.Especially if I've got a permanent. centre console shaped dent in my left knee! 2007 Freelander 2 2.2TD4 HSE manual (Hers)

That doesn't seem fair, time to find a 300Tdi

United Kingdom 2009 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto Santorini Black

Had the 2009 TD4 HSE Auto for 6 weeks now and two long trips have provided very different results.
A journey to Cardiff from South East London returned 38 mpg thanks largely I think to the interminable 50 mph roadwork restrictions on the M25 and M4.
This last weekend we hacked down to Brittany on autoroutes all the way there and back so very high average speed up to the 130 kph max (honest guv!) on cruise control for hours. Total of 760 miles in 4 days and the car was faultless but economy was "only" 30.6 mpg.
It seems that hustling along 2 tonnes of flat fronted steel box at 80 mph is an expensive business compared to a leisurely 65 mph..

The point is though 65mph is soul destroying, as is driving your average eurobox.

30mpg is the price you may have to pay, to put a smile on your face and a song in your heart.

Could be worse, the lads only getting 18mpg out of his Scooby, he has to sit in an A3 every day as a driving instructor, it's what makes him smile at the end of the week. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her

I consistently average 37 - 38mpg overall. Mainly A road and motorway with some Nice flowing B roads.
Fortunately traffic not a huge issue and most journeys are at least 20 miles and often 100+
Never use the eco gimmick. And I dont drive slowly either. Very happy with the consumption.

When I replace with an auto I guess I will not be so happy with the consumption but will be much happier overall. (Coming) 2016 RR Evoque td4 180 HSE Dynamc
(Going) 2013 TD4 GS Auto - Santorini Black with black leather. Cold Climate, UK Lighting & Armrest Packs. Privacy Glass. LR Rubber Mats. Full size spare.
60 000 miles averaging 35mpg

(Gone) 2010 TD4 Manual GS - Stornoway Grey. Sold at 3yrs old & 64k miles. Final average consumption 39.2mpg.

I only ever reset the MPG at each service, like to see what the average is between service intervals!

Between buying the car and the 3rd Service interval it averaged around 35mpg for the 15,000 mile interval (approx 9 months).

Since that service the MPG is reading around 36mpg for the distance since, approx. 5,000 miles in 3 months.

Coming to the end of our first year with the car (a 2009 TD4e, Manual) and pretty happy with those figures. My daily commute accross Leeds and back is approx 20 miles of stop start with a few short dual carriageway sections. On the flip side the car has also taken us to Inverness, Durham, The Cotwolds etc on holidays and had a good few longer runs for work. I always convince myself that my milage is about 50-50 Urban/Extra-Urban so I hope to achive close to the official Combined figure - for the TD4e that is 37.7mpg i believe so I am not far off!!

I was getting about the same as pinky, until I had new parts and chipped and now getting 39mpg @ 80mph on a run. 36mpg on the way to work driving it like I stole it.

I am only getting 28/29MPG and my FL2 is only 12 months old and an SD4 auto model so pretty disappointed. Who chipped you please.
