For me its only down narrow unlit country lanes I have a problem with it. Full beaming someone who's dazzling you with their fogs is no different to full beaming someone who's forgotten to dip their full beams.

I can assure you there is a great difference between the perceived brilliance of 'fogs' and a full two headlight 'main beam', and what's the point of 'full beaming' an oncoming driver and increasing the risk of a head on crash because supposedly neither of you can see Confused

"perceived brilliance of fogs" Smile

If they have their fogs on, as I said previously, it lights up the black hole induced by the glare of the fogs, if they have their main beams on it makes them dip.

If someone comes at you with full beams on and doesn't dip them what do you do?

Well as others have quoted the 'Highway Code' in this thread, I suppose I must also Smile

Might be worth pointing out that the Highway Code is very different to the LAW set out under the Road Traffic Act. Just a thought.... Foraging near Gaydon....

Well I ain't reading that Laughing

Hell, it's the first time in years that I just read the Highway Code.

Just to make it clear, I don't use my fog lights unless weather conditions dictate it and if I'm dazzled by an oncoming car it get's a nice flash of headlights, and if we are slow enough then plenty of abuse out of the window accompanied by my horn Whistle

Flash em with your fogs.

I get the feeling nothings been resolved here and no ones going to change their driving style. Smile

Nothing , cause the evidence apparently shows that the drl increases the visibility of a vehicle to others, thereby reducing ' I didn't see you ' incidents

If thats true I wonder how much of it is down to the fact that there are less cars with DRL's thereby making them more noticable, when all cars get DRL's maybe the effect will be negated.

Don't know. At work, we were told to drive with ours in lights on all the time for the above reason.

When I used to wear a white hat, I would often stop people driving with their front fogs on, and inform them their rear fog lamp was defective, and I intended issuing a vehicle defect notice. "I haven't got them on, it's not foggy," was invariably their reply. To which I would reply, "Then why do you have your front fog lamps on, if it's not foggy?"

The vacant look from the spotty teenager, driving his Vauxhal Nova around with side lights, front fogs on, and the stereo blaring, was always entertaining.... Cool The Road Traffic Act is quite clear on this, fog lamps may only be used when visibility is severly reduced by fog or falling snow. Any other time is (or was) a non-endorsable offence.

The only time in 18 years of driving when I could have used them my car didnt have them. I lived in Kirkburton, Huddersfield. Visibility was about 20 meters if that, I remember setting off to work and travelling not more than 10 mph following the line of the kerb. After about 20 mins or so I came out of the fog.

Personally I dont see the point of front fogs myself, I rarely use my rear fogs. But then again I live in an area where its rarely foggy. Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.
