How long do you have it for?

I would suggest a good drive in various condidtions, motorways, towns and Off road if you have the chance Thumbs Up Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Only had an hour and that was with a dealer rep with me ...which was a letdown
However...drove the car on dual carrigeways and backstreets and dealer type was most eager for me to go offroad which we did by going on one of the beaches here .........
I have to say i was most impressed , i have driven offroad before but that was a defender while i was in the forces ,since then i have only been offroad in my GMC Yukon, the LR2 was far better on the soft stuff..
I will be buying Smile

I'm amazed that expat only got an hour's test drive - and with the rep present. My UK dealer lets you take one for 24 hours unaccompanied. I did this for the D3 but took it back after 3 hours because I'd learnt everything I needed to know, using it as the benchmark - fantastic! I took out an FL2 next day and kept that for the full 24 hours, by which time I was totally smitten.

I think it's important to get to know the vehicle on various known routes, which offer different driving conditions, so that you can concentrate on what the car's responses are. The last thing you want is a rep by your shoulder which, by default, is inhibiting.

Is my dealer 'Roger Young' unique, or do other UK dealers give extended test drives? Was GS TD4 Auto, Privacy, Santorini with Tundra & Alpaca, Cold Climate Pack. Traded for Discovery Sport HSE Auto.

At my dealer the sales rep came with us, it was an insurance thing (or so he said) managed to squeeze half hours drive out of them but was smitten after 30 seconds Cool ______________________

I managed half hour blast up the M60 with the Rep who was a nice lady.

Love the FL2, just undecided about what model to go for. Drove a GS on the TD but they had a dealer upgraded S in the showroom with full leather and 18" alloys plus the body kit which looked lovely!?

In Europe it is normal from what I know to get extended test drive periods.

In the UAE, like Oman it seems test drives are limited and are always accompanied.

I have test driven a VW in Muscat, they just gave me the keys and said have fun ...which i did Smile ....VW GTI dont think i got any speeding tickets ... Wink

Norway 2008 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto Caspian Blue

Me & my wife test-drove for a couple of hours on our own. Could have driven longer if we felt the need for it.
All the cars we test-drove, we did on our own, -unaccompanied, and as for as long as we wanted.

After we had ordered, we got a FL2 for a week-end, -just to test it up to the mountains.

Maybe its just our honest faces...... Confused 2008 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Automatic, Caspian Blue, Alpaca, Moon roof, Exclusive pack.

England

After reading this thread I got back onto the phone to my very nice dealers and they've arranged for me to have a GS for a 48hour test drive tomorrow or Wednesday.

I'm pretty much made up my mind that it's the FL2 I was, its just the decision on the model......? He who dares Rodders, he who dares!!
