I'm amazed that expat only got an hour's test drive - and with the rep present. My UK dealer lets you take one for 24 hours unaccompanied. I did this for the D3 but took it back after 3 hours because I'd learnt everything I needed to know, using it as the benchmark - fantastic! I took out an FL2 next day and kept that for the full 24 hours, by which time I was totally smitten.

At my dealer the sales rep came with us, it was an insurance thing (or so he said) managed to squeeze half hours drive out of them but was smitten after 30 seconds ______________________

In Europe it is normal from what I know to get extended test drive periods. In the UAE, like Oman it seems test drives are limited and are always accompanied. |

The reason for the short accompanied test drive was because LR Muscat dont have a test drive Freelander , i was driving one of the guy's who works there , well thats what they told me .

Me & my wife test-drove for a couple of hours on our own. Could have driven longer if we felt the need for it.

After reading this thread I got back onto the phone to my very nice dealers and they've arranged for me to have a GS for a 48hour test drive tomorrow or Wednesday.
