always been difficult to plan a trip to scotland for wintersports, its either lack of snow or bad winds that puts the spanner in the works

A couple of weeks? We'll have had snow, hail, fog and tropical storms by then!

I would suggest somewhere like Morzine, last thing you want is to get caught driving too far into the mountains, I did Morzine before and it's easy driving all the way

I assume you mean me? Yeah, the tree/rope thing is still there, but closed for the winter.
