Weather has gone bananas, speaking to family over in Tasmania this morning, 40 degrees, it's normally 20-25, thankfully a little further south, I have some expensive metal Ian garage over there.

That aside, you should get some decent walking in, give it until Feb/Mar and I will think we will be bitten by a sever cold snap, right at the time everyone has given up on winter.

Interesting point Taz. I have been monitoring various weather forums and reports and there is one of two expected Sudden Stratospheric Warmings going on this weekend. The second by next weekend I think and there is a couple of weeks delay before the effects are felt.

Providing sods law doesn't step in, these warmings are set to tear the polar vortex apart which will reverse the winds thus getting rid of the mild westerly crap we have been getting and bringing north easterly stuff. Cold air is then able to charge south towards the UK.

Lots of uncertainty about the outcome but as I say, if sods law doesn't prevail, plummeting temperatures will arrive and the potential for widespread heavy snow. Fingers crossed because I am sick of the mild crap and I suspect those down south who have been flooded will find snow and ice preferable to yet more rain! LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

I blame The Doctor, we have had snow for the last three years prior to last year, ever since he got the "Snow Grooves" we have had nothing.

Once again Mother nature whips our ar and laughs in our face.
I dont think the South will want any ice or snow though, ice will freeze the ground and cause untold damage to the roads and snow will have to melt sometime and with sodden ground, into their homes it will go.

I have given up with looking at forecasters, that cock james madden has taken to changing his story to suit events and all the others are simply wrong most of the time.

I have made myself a weather station from a timeless and infallible source used for centuries by the Scots.

You had a good New Year mate, quiet over here, lousy damp weather, miserable grey skies and little chance of decent picky taking. Fog descended in the last hour too making things even worse.

I am praying for snow down here !
My Wintrac 4's have only seen snow once which was the day they were fitted on the 6th November. Interesting point about the condition of the roads though...craters re-appearing daily in the same places the council filled in last year I assume because of the two icy weeks in early November. _________________

Some of the upper runs are open, the lower ones are poor though. Last week was worse, loads of snow but high winds so all the tows were off.

Where are you staying? I live in Onich but work in Ft Wm.
