Just to add some balance to this....

The bottom end of my 300Tdi Discovery was just as immaculate as the TDCi engine on the previous page when I replaced the sump last year. That engine has covered 156,000 miles, and has never run on a mix of Diesel and 2so.

Earlier on in this thread, I read a statement that the injectors/IP don't last for these sorts of mileages without the the addition of 2so, and that fuel economy rarely rises above 30mpg. The MPG on my Discovery has never dropped below 32 average, and I've had no problems with any of the injection components.

Whilst I'm very open minded regarding this subject, I've seen no firm published evidence as to the benefits of using 2so. Until I do, this argument is based purely on opinion, and I won't be adding 2so to my motor.

1 my car is a fl2 my2007 and the 8th vin letter is a B,so i hope i am non dpf
2 The measurement is 0.3L per full tank(60L),i cant afford a full tank so if I do 0.15L per half tank(30L),is this ok?
3 Best one to buy and best price for the 2SO
4 Oil needs to be JASO FB?

Tesco garages have been doing a litre of castrol actevo for £1.48. Great stuff, FC rated and cheap as chips. As for all your other questions,

150ml for half a tank will be fine

Yep, always. Used it for 2 years in my other one (3 years old when I got it), and have put it in the latest one since I bought it at 6 months old.

just a quick one here.

The debate pro/contra 2sO rages on.

For those of you with greasy finger experience, the real test, beside all the other positive aspects is when you have to remove the glow plugs.

On an engine nursed on 2sO it is as simple as removing the electrical connection and removing it with a socket.

Without 2sO there is always the real possibility o breaking off the glow plug due to it being seized onto the head due to excessive carbon build up.

Agree with you DG,

I had replaced the glow plugs in December last year and it was very easy to remove them. More than that, on their surface there was no carbon build up, only a thin layer of powder ash. Engine has more than 90000 Km, but for the last 10000 Km I had used the 2SO miracle cure. The guy at the service told me that there may be an extra cost if he will fail to remove the glow plugs in the usual way due to carbon build up.

Should I remind you that this very thread was started because of the lack of lubrification properties of Euro5 diesel (the very first phrases of YF in this thread) and clean combustion is just one of the side effects? Re-read the first message in this thread.

Raise your hands the ones that can show us the internals of two high pressure pumps, after 100,000 km, one used with plain Euro5 diesel and one used with a blend of Euro5 diesel with 2SO!

first of all, I want you to congratulate for your forum , expertise and dedication.

I have a problem and I believe that you can give me some good advice,

I have a problem with my car, its a bmw 3.0d auto, with 205.000 km's, it had a really smooth operation til it had 190.000 kms aprox, and now, since then, I am having problems of enging failure in 3rd gear over 3.000 rpm and ocasionally in 2nd gear above 3500 rpm.

diesel fuel in spain seems to be of fairly good quality, unless you fill in certain low cost services where there seems they do not add all additives, just the official ones.

fuel consumption increased slightly since 180-185.000 kms to now..

I had it to service to change all filters, motor oil, etc… at 202.000 km, so there would not be a "fisical" problem, but still have the problem, and seems to be more or less evident in function of the fuel used. I have used several cleaners, ie , wynns aditive, xenun diesel multiconditioner, forte advanced formula diesel treatment, with slight improvement,….

I entered in some forums, ones about adding gasoline to the diesel, and yours 2so . I was wondering to give a try to 2so and see, or if I should give up , go to service, anf get the motor disassembled (with all related costs, at least 2-2.200 eu), as the guy of my workshop says, because he cannot find any failure with the computer and car goes really smooth if you do not overpass the critical 3000 rpm in 3rd or 2nd gear.

your support will be higgly appreciated. would you use 2so? what ratio? what effects would you expect? shall I get rid of it and buy a Freelander ?

My brother-in-law has a BMW 3.0d auto and had the same issues as you. The problems were cured by removing and cleaning the EGR and all is now well. The EGR was caked with muck and not shutting properly but this did not cause any fault codes to come up. Adding TSO will not cure a gummed up EGR but it will help to stop it getting gummed up again. John

hi, Jst, thnak you! I verified invoice and talked to the service guy, they said they opened the colector with EGR valve, found it no so dirty, and cleaned/soaked with cleaning liquid. No improvement after that repair 3000 km later. it seems EGR are cleaned by soaking it in a cleaning solution?

Check the turbo and it's variable/moving vanes. Also the vacuum lines to turbo, if it's vacuum actuated.
