A couple of years ago I owned an Audi, I pulled up next to an old fiesta at a set of lights. The Fiesta boy was a boy racer, as the lights changed he zoomed off in a puff of smoke, out of the corner of my eye I saw a tow rope. In a split second it went tight and BANG his towing eye shattered into dust!! Silly tried racing me while towing another car(and I was only crawling along)!! Me and the wife thought it was funny (the people being towed didnt)!! Seriuosly thats the kind of person that shouldnt be allowed near a tow rope. Ive never towed before, dont know if i'd risk it personally. I'd help out where I could in a winter situation but not sure about towing. More importantly..... What happens if you damage your own motor in the process ?

Well I haven't bothered towing anyone as yet but I have found out the licence issues don't come into play. I asked a traffic cop and the categories that people always mention that are no longer auto included on licences, relate to trailers. A towed vehicle is not a trailer and thus licence issues don't need worrying about. Recovery towing over short distances is fine.

Unfortunately LRSWE there'll be no Land Rover love coming from me...in the same way as there's never any Audi love on the motorway when they're up your arse flashing away!

It's not a black and white decision (that's not a racist pun ), I would help retrieve the people only after weighing up the situation:

I think EYorkshire has hit the nail on the head and has highlighted most people's natural reaction these days. Incoming threat to yourself or your car has to be borne into the equation. Otherwise, the worst case scenario would be to offer a lift and I somehow think that deep down we'd all be willing to oblige. |

Ive never towed before but to be honest I wouldnt know what to do. I'd be frieghtend of burning out my clutch. I do have a tow rope in my boot but its nearly 20 years old. I've helped a before with push starts, jump started a car, blown a ladies tyre up at asda with my pump. Towing wise i'd probably say no. And besides these days, as have been said before, some people arnt gratefull for your help. Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.

i'll help anyone as long as it has no risk to myself or my belongings i've helped people before and been mugged I'll just give them a warm drink with my 12v immersion cup heater When I die, I want to go peacefully like my Grandfather did, in his sleep -- not screaming, like the passengers in his car |
