The basic "S" in TD4 form gives everything I would want from my car at about 10 grand cheaper than an HSE. All thats missing is leather, sat nav and fancy wheels. All the basic functions are there viz TR. They seem to have tarted up the GS but the price has been hiked accordingly. Wink MY 09 GS manual in Lago Grey, Wood Co arm rest and side bumper strips - now sold.

HSE frivolities.

When I bought my GS I saved about 7000 squid on the price of the HSE which offered me sporty wheels and tyres, a built in Sat Nav, a hole in the roof and a few superfluous gadgets none of which I wanted. So a GS with the added option of the winter pack (excellent) and leather seats (lovely) represented far better value for money and matched my preferences.
I hope they continue to offer more basic models without the compulsory frivolous stuff - if the accessories and options list is sensibly priced I think it is better to tailor the spec of your car to suit individual preference rather than waste money on the top of the line jobbies. The latest HSE has such attractions as a light in the driver's footwell - one of the 4x4Magazines poked fun at that - what is it for?, do some motorists need to keep sight of their feet at all times when driving?

There's no info on LRs website yet...just wondering if it is limited to the S range of options which means no electric folding mirrors which is a necessity here otherwise won't get it into the garage!

United Kingdom 2013 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Fuji White

Hi

Was at the dealers today getting my plates swapped on my 2013 GS and had a look around one of these Black/White additions

The outside looks good, on top of the GS you get XS Alloys, privacy glass, new signature LEDSs front lights, colour coded handles and the bonnet and side grills are black , oh yes and mud flaps

You lose leather, heated seats, cruise control, a/c I think the a/c and internal circulation button wereblanked

The dealer showed me the dealer details and it seemed to be about £24k for the TD4 but she said there is no £2k contribution and if you want finance it's 7.9% (the other deal is 5.9%)

I really wanted heated seats and cruise (have to say the leather does look nice) but if you do not want leather etc then these additions make sense- not sure how much they will discount (other models get that £2k min discount) but the dealer said that each dealer has been a quantity (they had 4 of various types) and only got details on them 14th nov

Very Happy

No employee discount either. In that case I'll buy a GS and hit the options list
