Getting a set of Vredestein Wintrac 4 Extremes fitted tomorrow morning. Looking forward to it. They'll be replacing a set of Nankangs that the dealer put on because the tyres needed changing when they got it in part ex. They made a mess up of the price they offered me the car at, and to cut costs after we'd agreed on the price, they put the Nankangs on. To be honest, they've been ok, but they won't be going back on again in March. I do a lot of miles, so in the winter the Vreds are going to make me feel a lot happier. Also can't wait to try out the terrain response. had a FL1 before this, and never got stuck once over the last two winters, and I live at the top of a valley, with no way out but down.

To be honest, they've been acceptable. I've pushed them reasonably hard on bends. They seem to grip ok. As I've had them since I've had the car, I don't know if any others would be less or more noisy. Haven't tried them off road either. For weekend use only, I think you'd be ok. |

Are weekends short of slippery roads and the perchance of an emergency stop then? It ain't high usage that determines the need for safety, it's ANY usage. Just my thoughts FWIW. 10MY (Sept 09) TD4 HSE Auto in Stornoway Grey (Now Gone)

I find that all weekends are sunny, warm, and devoid of other drivers on the road. On a serious note though, what your saying is correct about when you drive. Accidents don't only happen during the week. I've done 12k on mine in 7 months, in all weathers apart from snow and ice, and they've performed well. I've never felt that the would give in. Oh and I towed the van with them on as well. There are lower brands than Nankang. |

Just shows how much water they are shifting, dispersing it rather than riding on it. |
