United Kingdom 2011 Freelander 2 TD4_e GS Manual Santorini Black

Icy this morning in Halifax, so the first proper test. I know before everybody starts that no tyre will help if a 2 ton vehicle starts sliding, but stickier winter rubber and TRC should give a little advantage.

United Kingdom 2013 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Manual Ipanema Sand

Just back from a 90 mile round trip to see Andy at AJS.

Wintrac 4 Extremes fitted all round and looking very nice, with no noticeable road noise increase on motorway and A roads over the scorpions. Not had a chance to test them properly yet as the snow stopped on the route back, but the car definately feels more sure footed on roundabouts and bends and less twitchy.

It's the first time I have bought tyres from an independent, and I would much rather spend my money here than at a national giant, even if it means a long trip. Very fast, friendly and professional service at the cheapest price I could find, and that includes the fuel spent getting there and back.

Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

I will be back to see Andy soon...maybe a set of 235 60 18 grabbers in the spring Whistle _________________

I have had vredesteins before, quiet, good grip, very good in the wet and snow.

Grabbers are MUCH noisier, twitchey in the damp on tarmac, but good off road, grass mud etc
I hatted my grabbers after 2 weeks, not enough road traction and way too much noise.

I now have ultragrips - happy.... for now.

Thanks pcheaven

You have just saved me hundreds on buying something that I would regret in a few months. I saw the grabbers on a disco and loved the look of them, but I must admit they might look a tad too 'off roady' for me. I do 95 % tarmac and 5% woodland / grass at weekends so maybe I will take Andy's advice and give the vreds a go all year round. _________________

Loo.

The grabbers are good, just not on damp Tarmac.
The euro rating for them is F F 74db.
Which is at the worst end on all 3 scales.
They look fantastic, and really deliver in deep water on Tarmac - 1-4 inches
Almost No aquaplaning below 30mph.

I think the vreds are e d 72db, so better fuel economy, much better in the wet, and half as loud, though can no longer find this on Internet...

My ultras are e b 68. So really quiet. Thumbs Up
In reality the only difference I noticed between vreds and ultras is the vreds seem
To have better dry/ warm weather handling on bends...just.
Still fantastic tyres, and look cool.
