Australia 2007 Freelander 2 i6 HSE Auto Tambora Flame
service every 6mths?

I bought my fl2 6 mths ago. just got a letter from dealer asking me to book in my first service.
I call trivett sydney where I got the car from. the guy said I need to service the car every 6mths or 12,000km which ever come first. he said it will cost approx AUD600 for the 1st one.

ha? every 6mths? I check Landrover site all over the world and all said every 12mths.
trivett sydney explain that is australia schedule for all new landrovers, not just freelander2.

what do you think?

Canada 2007 LR2 i6 HSE Auto Tambora Flame

In Canada it's 6mo/12K km. (But we get 4yrs complimentary maintenance, though). I believe from other conversations, 6mo/12 is the standard. For the first service, you usually want to get that done sooner rather than later. The oil is quite dirty from the engine break in. The price doesn't seem too far out of line (for a LR) AUD600 = £275. Check out this thread http://www.freel2.com/forum/topic1072.html

The RRS have different service schedules in Aus as well

I suppose you don't want to have it breakdown whilst driving through the remote outback, so every 6 months is there way of keeping you alive and not eaten by Dingos Laughing Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

In Uk services every 15000 miles or 12 months according to LR website Confused

You would think that would be universal. Shocked

It may be different for petrol vs diesel. US is also 12000 km/6mo interval (for the petrol). Maybe climate has something to do with it too. But the diesels seem to have a longer time between service. Maybe LR Australia doesn't realize they sell diesel LR2s Shocked

It's 12000 kms or 6 months here as well.

It's dependent on the region that you're in, and here with the sand and the heat the shorter service intervals are a must and I would say teh same is applicable for Australia, and with Canada it may be the extreme cold........

Servicing is free for 3 years or 60k here and warranty coverage for 5 years or 250k. Thumbs Up

This is my first Landrover. I am a bit surprise on how high maintenance it required.
Most new cars these days require less and less maintenance.

Anyway, I will post here again after the service this week.

Romania 2008 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Manual Izmir Blue

When I bought mine the dealer told me that the first service should be at 12 month or 24000 Km, but that they recomend a service also at 12000 Km (not tied to 6 month). I assumed that this was because in Romania we have bad roads. The booklet that came with the car also states 24000 Km or one year.
Maybe in Australia you get shorter service periodes because it is hoter ?. FREELANDER 2 TD4 SE (XS UK) IZMIR BLUE SIDE STEPS COLD PACK BI-XENON TINTED WINDOWS - AND PROUD OF HER

Just pick up the car from Trivett Sydney.

the service cost AUD633.30.

Service 12,000km/6mths ---> $325
Oil filter I6, washer, washer additive ---> $35.41
Mobil 1 oil, sundries, waste oil disposal levy, oil top up ---> $215.31
GST $57.57
Total $633.30

also checked loan car, $66 per day.

only 8050km on the clock and I reckon it is way too expensive. My 3 series service cost a lot less.
I will definitly call around before I book in my 2nd service.

I 've got my car since may 2007 and in the booklet I read that service was required every 24.000km or 12 months.
But a few months ago the dealer told me that Landrover itself had given new instructions: every 6 months or 12.000 km?

Johan,
I have not heard that. I have just received a letter from my dealer stating that my first service is due by the 30th of April. I will have had the car exactly 1 year on that date.
A service every 6 months seems to be a money making game for Land Rover in our type of climate.
