I think the clutch plate parts are 200 quid then its labour cost. Lot of posts on here about dmf's causing slipping.

How big a job is it? I know the clutch parts are 200 quid or so, do the dealers really charge a 1000 quid in labour? Or am i missing something?

Its about 6.5 hours labour to replace clutch plate, pressure plate, release bearing and Duel mass flywheel. All the parts come to arround £700 so your looking at £1200 to £1300 all in.
If you have all the parts fitted appart from the duel mass flywheel then its arround the £900 mark.
Bloody expensive when you consider how much the landrover hourly rate is. Thumbs Up

Had mine done under warranty.
It was the flywheel at fault but they also replaced the clutch and the slave cylinder which is mounted on the inside of the bell housing while it was all apart.
Dealer had the car for two days and told me it was a big job. Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

I recall on another thread there was an independent garage who could do it for half the dealer price. The DMF was not being replaced as they considered it unnecessary.

Got chatting to the service manager a couple of weeks ago and mention the DMF. He said that under warranty work on the clutch the DMF would be replaced. Out of warranty they would recommend the DMF is always replaced. If the customer declined then it was at the customers own risk. A Land Rover owner since 1988

Sorry it's not the news you want to hear Big Cry
Depending on mileage and service history, you could try LR Customer Relationship to ask if they will give a donation towards the bill.
Just be pleasant to them, they do try to help; if you don't ask you don't get Thumbs Up Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

Clutch

I contacted Land Rover who coughed up £250 towards final bill.
Haggled a bit with Gordon Lamb Land Rover Chesterfield.
Eventual cost to me for having new clutch and DMF at Land Rover main dealer was just less than £700.
If the car hadn't only got 54k on it then I might have been slightly chuffed.
Better than it could have been though. 07 SE manual, Narvick black.
