anyone found away of getting in an FR2 when its in sleep

My FR2 was parked in my Garage tight against the wall and had gone to sleep !
Key entry is passenger side but the walls in the way. I usually leave the window open but had forgotten this time.

I don't want to break the glass and currently had to pad the wall with foam and jack the car up and drag across the garage !

For example when I locked myself out of my Omega once I simply hooked the boot lock cables out from under the boot lip with a coat hanger and put 12 volts down the boot lock wire and unlocked the car, didn't know whether anyone tried with an FR2 or a door loom behind a wheel spat ??? Question

Cant you unlock the tail gate with the remote and climb in through the back or set the unlocking to unlock both doors ? Instructions to program the unlocking is on here i did it a couple of weeks ago.

Anything that could allow a potential thief to get in to the car without a key will be removed from the forum (not including the obvious forced entry methods Wink )

Guides to wake the car and get the keyfob working are allowed Thumbs Up Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

When they go to sleep the remotes do not work ! And the only door you can open is the NS door with the manual key ! Not much good when car is parked against brick wall in garage.
The key fob has to be inserted in the dash to wake the electrics back up.

As if putting up with three years of bad or non starting wasn't enough now when I want to use it I can't unlock it !

oldgeezer, how long does it take for it to go into sleep mode ?

and do you need to park it so tight against the wall ?

I'm wondering that too. I've seen differing posts regarding sleep mode - one suggesting that it's after a week, another than it depends on whether the car is single- or double-locked, etc.

Does anyone know definitively under what conditions sleep mode is initiated?

And what is the best way of 'cancelling' sleep mode if the car is to be parked for a while - is it enough to unlock and lock it every few days? Or is it necessary to start the engine?

I don't know how to wake it up or the exact layout of your property but can you get a trolley jack under the back end and drag it out or at least move it sideways enough to get to the passenger door?

I can leave mine double locked for two weeks and it stays "awake". John

I have never heard of this problem - I too park tight to passenger side in garage and would be unable to reach the manual lock if this happened - what a nightmare Shocked

I don't fancy leaving my RRS unlocked in the garage just in case Sad

happened to someone on here before , he resorted to jacking the rear of the car and pushing it sideways off the jack several times until it had wandered clear of the wall At work

is there a way to wake it by boosting the battery from the tow electrics, (thinking gone to sleep due to low battery) Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I have tried through the towing electrics but no luck

It goes to sleep after three weeks

Its very heavy to keep jacking up and dragging across the garage ! and the front gets very very close to the wall.
Landrover assist used to pack blankets around the car before moving it.

No point in talking to a dealer because the normal comment is " they all do it ! its a characteristic !" That has been their reply for every single fault the cars ever had including non start in cold weather ! & thats two different dealers !

Garages in modern houses tend to be small so have to park tight to the NS wall so i can get the drivers door open.

because of the faults it suffered from new I always had to keep a battery charger plugged in all the time just so it had enough to turn over in cold weather ! I sincerely hope I don't need to start all that again !

They are designed to go to sleep to save the battery I think when the voltage drops below 12.2volts which if its parked for three weeks it will do !

They could just do with an emergency button under the front and rear bumpers that if you pressed could wake it back up !

I bought a charger for motorhomes, etc the first winter I had my RRS because it had summer tyres and I was using my fl1 during the bad weather but when I reads the instructions and saw I had to disconnect the battery to use it I didn't bother Rolling Eyes

I ended up starting the car every few weeks and taking it for a run to keep the battery charged - it was a pain in the neck and ended up buying m+s tyre set too Evil or Very Mad

A neighbour is chief engineer on a ferry and advised me to use the charger but warned they shorten the battery life Sad Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

If it is going to sleep in the garage due to voltage drop maybe the battery is not all it should be. I fitted an Exide heavy duty 85AH battery which holds its voltage well.

Your other strategy is to use a smart charger (loads of advice on other threads about these) or use a solar panel on a long lead outside the garage and plug it into the permanent live socket at the rear of the centre console. John

Thank you but. That topic has suggestions for flat battery. I am looking as to how to wake one up when its gone to sleep ! Slightly different scenario.

I have had a new Landrover battery but. Still goes to sleep when left parked.
