EPIC RRS FAIL!

In fairness this is poor towing as they hook it up to the tow bar instead of the eye and don't use a proper tow rope. Even so, an FL2 on winter tyres would do better!

Then again, winter tyres on the RRS would have done the trick. Skip to 5:05 but the guy in the modified heap of crap hatchback afterwards is even funnier Laughing

Would have done better in GGS mode, by the amount of wheelspin it wasn't in GGS. Rolling Eyes

I'll drink to that SYFL2. Kal-El recently posted that he purchased the same winter tyres that I got (Avon Ranger Ice) and although last winter was mostly mild and boring, I am hoping these scientists are onto something with this arctic ice melt causing bad winters here. Broke all records as per my other post.

Hey Kal, use google street view on Old Hill, Ashbourne. I went up there last Feb on peak 4x4 duty and it was thick snow and it never put a foot wrong. Very steep as you can see and the street view cam doesn't do it justice Thumbs Up LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

Just checked it out doc Shocked Thumbs Up

That is steep and getting up there just shows the abilities of FL2, especially so on the winter tyres. I am definitely hoping for plenty of snow.

My fave moment in the old FL1 was having to go past a stuck Honda CRV. Kings of reliability maybe but not kings of snow Laughing 60 plate SD4 XS, Stornoway Grey, Arm rest pack

Looked to be on 20" wheels most likely road biased too

Also with the amount of wheel spin, possibly wrong TR setting and DSC kicking in, killing the towing power

Low range, GGS Setting and DSC OFF

BUT
no amount of electronic wizardry will help if its black ice below the snow, especially when towing an extra ton of car Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Agreed. Never had any problem on wranglers but in situations like this, the winter tyres I have would be in a different league. I have noticed that on a couple of occasions when sudden-ish braking was called upon in snow (due to some plank sliding out of a side turning into my path), the winters pulled the car up smartly even though the mandatory ABS juddering came into play. I like to strike a balance with snow. I do like a quick laugh at stuck Beemers (although I do like Beemers so not a beemer hater) but I also like helping folks. Hence I joined Peak 4x4.

This highlights the problems of driving in snow. You can have the right car and the right tyres but you tend to be surrounded by people who don't! 2011 Freelander 2 SD4 XS Santorini Black with privacy glass.
