Tested mine out today and it's brilliant except that it's very quiet, even on max vol. I wonder if I have taped over the speaker. Will have to pull the dash out and have a look. I see it's possible to remove the back (first remove the mount, then push through the hole, apparently. Maybe this would help. Anyone else had a sound problem so far?

Update on this: I took off some of the extra parcel tape I had put on the back - specifically over the speaker holes Embarassed , and it's now louder. Also took out the foam piece under the "speaker plate" before I put the dash back. It's now just about loud enough to hear, though still on full volume. Looks like it's no longer possible to remove the back of the unit. I think I came across an out-of-date user manual there.

For an ideal install it ought to be wired into an extra amp and speaker, I think, but that's a minor quibble for an otherwise excellent mod at a fraction of the price for the LR fitment.

I agree, it is a little quiet, although I must admit to turning the sound way down anyway as I prefer just the visual reference, it works very well though, lovely clear screen and with the OS map colours loaded it looks good too. Thumbs Up

Apologies for a stupid question...

...but would a 7" display SatNav fit, or would the screen edges be too close to, or even hidden behind, the dash?

Anyone in Derby want to earn themselves 50p fitting me a TomTom Start 60???

Thank you,
Harvey

Harvey, it is quite straightforward, the hardest part for me was the centre speaker cover, it was very stiff, everything else from there was very straightforward.

Harvey, the problem with a seven-inch is that the unit might not fit in the space available behind the gap. Screen might also be slightly obscured as the Start60 only has a small rim showing top and bottom.
Update to my earlier postings - I've now used this several times and can find no problem whatsoever. Sound is loud enough now that I've taken out the foam disc from the top panel, the Halfords DS tape is holding well, and the electrics are all working fine. I find the speed camera warnings on the TomTom a bit haphazard, but overall it has more features than my old Garmin Nüvi and is generally less annoying!
Thumbs Up to Kitchener who thought this up in the first place.

Have decided to fit a couple of brackets behind TT , just in case when winter arrives and hot air from vents makes tape not as secure.

Put images into gallery. The top of bracket is fastened with the screws which held cubby box to console using a couple of cir clips. The bottom of the bracket slots into the holes which held the bottom of the cubby box. I put double sided tape on the back of TT which sticks to the brackets. The brackets hold under tension the TT firmly against the console.
