Stratstone Milton Keynes said "£347 all inclusive of parts, labour & VAT, and this is for the full top spec manufacturer service" although Solihull would be equally as convenient especially if they offered it at £299.

Might e-mail MK and tell them a random figure see if they knock it down. Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual MY11 - 61REG Stratstone Mayfair

Regarding retaining the warranty service stamps, it is my understanding that as long as whoever services the car uses genuine LR filters and equivalent standard oil etc, that the warranty would not be affected.

I read on this forum (forum member had a difficult time justifying why they wanted to have their FL2 serviced outside of LR due to incredibly expensive oil charges) that LR charge around £19 per liter of oil and that an equivalent oil can be used at a much reduced cost.

I would suggest that if you wanted to reduce your servicing costs by using an independent service centre, that you first inform LR of your intention to do so and have them guarantee that as long as certain criteria are met, that your warranty would not be invalidated by your doing so. Get this CONFIRMED IN WRITING before doing so. Whereabouts unknown stop going to follow stream until reach civilisation stop message ends

Wales 2015 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Manual Fuji White

I know this thread is a bit old but I thought I'd update it with my experience of arranging my first service today.

First spoke to Likes Landrover near Brecon whom I'd heard good things about. They quoted £236 (inclusive of parts, labour, VAT and a courtesy car) which I thought was pretty good. Then spoke to Stratstone in Newport where I bought the car and they quoted £289! When I told them Like's price they went away to "see what they could do", pretended to think about it, then came back and said they'd match it.

Amazing how much it varies, even in a relatively small geographical area. Although Stratstone is much closer to home I would have been prepared to make the 30 mile trip to Likes if Stratstone hadn't dropped their price. On this occasion I thought I'd give Stratstone a chance. I hope I don't regret it! Smile

Bringing this thread up to date. My MY13 SD4 due 1st service. We moved from East to West Cornwall last year, I have been taking various Freelanders to Roger Young in Saltash for last 15 years. Now I have Carrs Landrover just 2 miles away. Prices as follows:
Carrs £395 inc
Roger Young £294.50 inc
Matford Exeter £335 inc.
Carrs price matched so now paying £290 inc.

I have to say that I take a somewhat dim view of dealers that quote you a figure, possibly way over what others are quoting and then immediately drop it to match when you quote the competition. I know that's how markets work but

1. They won't change their pricing / margin model as a result
2. Doesn't it suggest that, at the inflated price, they're taking the p Censored ss?

If they can articulate and, more importantly, demonstrate the value of their higher price (some added value, better servicing outcomes, free lunch or whatever) then fair play. Otherwise, I'd feel as if I'd been about to be scammed a bit... ...

Be true to yourself. That way happiness lies...

Do agree. I would have liked to have used cheapest dealer but they are now over an hour away whereas my local one is 5 mins! I will give them a try but if I am not happy with their service I will make the effort to back to Roger Youngs whose service has always been good.
Interestingly when it came to doing the deal on the vehicle in April Carrs LR were a lot more competitive than Roger Young - maybe Carrs are making it back on their service costs! 1998 Feelander XDI Hardback - Gone

Taking up an earlier point above, new FR2s no longer have a service book to stamp. "No need - it's all on the computer". Seems like a sneaky way of trying to shut out non-franchise dealers. Either way, it's suddenly rather important to keep all your servicing paperwork.

It also makes you wonder that when they drop the price do they cut corners on the service? Surprised
