Whenever I start the engine and move forward, as soon as I push the accelerator doors lock and the accelerator is affected by quick double vibration accompanied by a metallic noise, the kind of noise you hear when you hit a metallic rod.

Are you sure the door locks and the sound are directly linked? Are you sure it is not the Haldex adjustment after starting up and starting to drive off?? The door locks are NOT (edit) controlled by a simple vacumn system, so there should be no major mechanical noise from them.....so pay no attention to me |

I have the very same thing. Only happens with the auto-locking mechanism. If anything, it's become less noticeable with time. |

Gambba, the door locks are driven electrically and not by vacuum. Even Mercedes has given up the vacuum driven automatic door locks on most of its models due to exessive cost over electrical systems.

if the doors lock automatic why are you mannualy locking them first I would have thought if you dont lock the doors mannualy the doors will lock themselves and it would solve your problem? 07my Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Baltic Blue,Privacy Glass,Ebony black leather,Land rover detachable towbar,S/S Side bars,Climair wind deflectors,Bramble Rash, |

I think Attox is right. The Haldex clutch pre-enganges before pulling away to ensure drive is sent to all 4 wheels.

As luck would have it, my LR2 is currently in the dealer for routine servicing. In addition to two "recall" fixes, I asked them to look into this issue as well. I'll let you all know what happens. |

I have exactly the same noise but I reckon as it only happens when I start off after the engine has been started the vibration through the pedal is the self test of the ABS system. D3 GS Java Black TDV6 Manual |

Looks (or should I say sounds!) like the query here is the same as the one I posted under "cable noise under the car". However, one thing I should say is that I don't think my FL2 has automatic door locking? I've got the Australian SE version. Can anyone else in Oz confirm the absence or presence of automatic door locking on Oz models? |
