2007 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Zermatt Silver

trying to stall

Hi
any ideas why my 07 2.2d is trying to stall when stopping?
revs seem to drop too low?

Mine does that if I stop it out of gear. But revs pick up again almost immediately and it has never actually stalled. I just assume it's normal.

There are a couple of old threads on here regarding the slow tick over, can't remember the outcome though.

The outcome i received from LR was...'it's normal'.

What they meant to say was 'it's normal to have it malfunction on all our LR's'

Mine hasn't stalled yet but not happy tbh,

Strong possibility of it being the EGR valve sticky due to carbon build up. It should close fully to prevent exhaust gas re-circulating on tickover.

Is the EGR valve easy easy to clean?

No, EGR is closed on tickover and hard acceleration when the correct oxygen rich air is needed. The EGR will open during light throttle like 'cruising' where the car can run on a 'lean' inefficient air burn, this is when recirculated exhaust gas will not make much of a difference to the engine.
Tickover is when the correct volume/density of air is critical so the EGR will not attempt to recirculate its spent gas.

Of course it may even be a sensor that's telling the EGR valve to open when it shouldn't.
