The outcome i received from LR was...'it's normal'. What they meant to say was 'it's normal to have it malfunction on all our LR's' Mine hasn't stalled yet but not happy tbh, Last edited by maffs on 30th Jul 2012 10:38 am. Edited 1 time in total |

Strong possibility of it being the EGR valve sticky due to carbon build up. It should close fully to prevent exhaust gas re-circulating on tickover. |

ey thought egr valve was open on tickover and shuts at 2,000 rpm rainy-city

No, EGR is closed on tickover and hard acceleration when the correct oxygen rich air is needed. The EGR will open during light throttle like 'cruising' where the car can run on a 'lean' inefficient air burn, this is when recirculated exhaust gas will not make much of a difference to the engine.
