Thanks MAFF for the reply. I have all the pics ready for the job and followed the corresponding replies. Most readers seem to use grease on the switch unit gasket so maybe I'll use MS4 or white grease, although a non-setting gasket compound will be better. Will post the results when I finish. Don't suppose LR have any idea on solving this problem or have modified the assembly to make it weatherproof. 11 GS Bali Blue

At last got around to replacing my tailgate boot switch, used Forum tutorial which made it a quick job ( thanks to the author of this info). Used MS4 to try and seal joints. Had a look inside the old switch but not very much corrosion, certainly not as much as I'd expected. 11 GS Bali Blue
