no steriods or growth promoters in E.U poultry production. just birds that are bred for fast growth rates.

Can you or other chicken producers control the content of the food? Are you sure that in that food there is no illegal/synthetic substances? |

Alex No single Government agency or central EU Commission can 100% guarantee that no illegal or harmful substances enter the food chain, however, Europe does its best to try and prevent such problems occurring. The major violators of food quality regulations are the Chinese, Thai's and Brazilian chicken producers. These three say they have "cleaned-up" their act since illegal growth promoters were found in widespread use in their chicken industry in 2007-2009. An import ban on Chinese produced chicken products is still in force here in CH. What is a problem in this mass production industry globally (inc EU members) is the maintenance of good animal husbandry to ensure that these factory produced chickens at least are kept during their very short lives in a clean healthy and yes, happy environment free from physical and emotional stress. With regards to Beef - I'd stay away from US produced beef products. Their cattle industry continues to deny the existence of BSE and the use of illegal steroids despite hard evidence to the contrary. |
